0000061182_20090915124105The third time was definitely the charm last night on Eastwick as we got a little deeper into the mythology of the show, relationships were formed and broken, the theme of morality ruled the hour, and we got two DC comic references. In short, last night’s Eastwick was a wickedly spun web of fun.

The women dealt with their issues separately this week so let’s break it down.

The Set Up

Kat tends to a conscious, but not there Bun, who has drawn that mysterious Celtic symbol over everything as she hummed Three Blind Mice (?). Kat is noticeable disturbed.

Darryl van Horn is taking over the town of Eastwick in the development department. He is about to break the ground at a ceremony that would signify the building of a town brewery, but is stopped by an angry mob led by Pastor Dune, who declares that the land that will be used for the brewery was bequeathed to the church and that Darryl stole it. Meanwhile during the ceremony, Joanna is still trying to find dirt on Darryl, Kat is happily back with Raymond and declines Darryl’s offer for a divorce lawyer, and Roxie sees the ghost of Gus, sending her into hysterics.

Oy vey!

Joanna Frankel: Lois Lane By Day, Catwoman by Night?

In her attempt to find out the deal about Darryl, Joanna goes to Pastor Dune after is rant at the groundbreaking ceremony for…7c8f89785ec1f32ff261d94d41a197c9well, dirt. Pastor Dune only spouts rants about how evil Darryl is and that Joanna’s soul is in jeopardy for even being associated with him. After that debacle, Joanna goes to the source himself and tries to use her hypnosis on Darryl to get him to tell Joanna who he is. Darryl simply tells her she doesn’t want to know. Darryl then receives a phone call about a meeting later that night and writes down the location. When he turns his back, Joanna steals the notepad that Darryl used.

Later, Joanna uses the pen imprint of the notepad to uncover the location address. She borrows an outfit from Roxie, who dubs her Catwoman, and stakes out with Penny at the location. The two women think that place is a restaurant serving tea, but quickly learn that it is actually a bordello. On their way out, Joanna spots Pastor Dune getting his freak on with a prostitute and snaps a picture. A bouncer tries to stop them, but they get away by Joanna using her hypnosis spell on him. Hopefully, Joanna can see by now whom she can and cannot use this gift on to save her grief and embarrassments down the line.

While Joanna is excited she got a first page story, she quickly deduces that she didn’t come across this by fate, but by Darryl. She celebrates with Will anyway, who reveals that he truly has feelings for her and the two go at it. Will, being the gentleman that he is, stops and sets up a date with Joanna who eagerly accepts.

Joanna gets home later and is about to shower, when someone breaks into her house and demolishes the place. Joanna jumps out her window and runs to Roxie’s.

The next day, Joanna sees her story on the front page and buys a copy at each store. Meanwhile, Pastor Dune declares revenge on Joanna and I pray that it wasn’t him who approached Joanna at the end of the hour.

The Bi-‘Polar’ Express

8dd256ec7d273d18a0cd6cb2d7d31db0Kat and Raymond revert to their newlywed days and Raymond wants to take Kate out with his new paycheck. She accepts, but everywhere she turns Darryl’s divorce card is popping up in places out of the blue. On their way to dinner, Kat and Raymond decide to take a swim in the public pool and have sex. The pool boils under their heated passion, but afterwards Raymond turns a complete 180 when Kat mentions Joanna and Roxie and angrily demands Kat to never see them again. Of course Kat gets pissed and the pool begins to freeze solid. Kat and Raymond make it out in the nick of time, but the damage is done. Raymond either needs help or he needs his ass kicked. Pronto. Kat also finds her way to Roxie’s house. The next day, she returns home to a house devoid of life and a message from Raymond, telling her to go to hell. Might I add that this message was left on Darryl’s divorce lawyer calling card? Hmmm…

Dead Men Don’t Leave

Roxie sees dead Gus everywhere; in town, at Darryl’s and even in her bed after sexing it up with Chad (guest star Matt Dallas). The poor woman doesn’t know what to do and goes to a psychic (guest star Roma Maffia, Nip/Tuck), who is a phony. When the psychic declares that she will not return the money, Roxie says she can choke on it, which cause the psychic to choke on her food.

Later, Roxie sees Gus again and demands what to know what does he want. Gus say two words will send him on his way, and Roxie is now more appalled at that request than his appearance. She runs to Darryl, who tells her that she shouldn’t have to feel sorry for someone who was evil enough to try to harm her daughter and gloat about it. This calms Roxie’s nerves until Mia gives her a lesson in morality after Mia came home from a memorial service for Gus that was as fake as a VH1 female reality star’s (place appendage here). The next day, Roxie and Mia visit Gus’s mother and while Mia discloses her sympathy for Gus’s death (despite his lack of own morals), Roxie tells Gus’s apparition that she is sorry and Gus disappears.

Darryl, That Charming Man…

After killing two birds with one stone by sending Joanna off his trail and in the process knocking Pastor Dune out of his way, Darryl commences digging for his brewery. He also burns the contents from Joanna’s investigation chart on him that he stole out of her apartment. When Darryl burns the picture of Bun, Eleanor, and himself, one Bun’s drawings of the Celtic symbol starts to burn in the hospital. Spooky!!!

Mia and Chad’s Brother

Mia, not feeling everyone’s mourning of Gus at school (I could have sworn he had dropped out), is dubbed Gus’s girlfriend since02a6b213ccbb01e1f97c51033d4bd9aa he was the last person everyone saw him with on the regular. Mia is then invited to the memorial service where everyone is crying their hearts out for someone they barely knew. This irks Mia, who tells everyone that Gus wasn’t the saint they are painting him as and runs into the wood. A kid follows her from the memorial named Josh, who doesn’t know his way back to the memorial. While waiting for Josh’s brother to arrive, Josh tells Mia that he was close with Gus for three months when they were kids and that despite Gus’s turn for the worse, he still was a good person. The point being that he was somebody to his family. This is where Mia lets bygones be bygones. Awww. Then we find out that Josh is actually Chad's brother, which could being complications of the mother daughter team dating siblings. Can we say, EWWWW!

So I’m loving Eastwick and I hope it is here to stay. Stay as in staying longer than a year, ABC!!!!
