We finally got to see some spells being slung in the town of Eastwick last night and some shockers that I swear I did not see coming. The episode picked up nanoseconds after last week’s episode ended, so let’s jump right into it.
Know Your Neighbors
After having another premonition about Jamie (guest star Jack Huston) spying on her at the Lennox Mansion, Roxie awakes to Jamie entering her shop bearing an apple as a gift. Roxie doesn’t take the apple out of fear of what Jamie might had put in it. While at the Lennox Mansion, Roxie gets a little déjà vu when Darryl says the same thing he said in her premonition. She looks outside, but sees no Jamie. She immediately thinks that her psychic powers are on the fritz. Darryl suggests that she gets some knowledge instead of living in ignorance. Darryl rocks, even if he is evil as sin.
Later while Jamie leaves, Roxie goes into his apartment and does some investigating. During her search, she finds a book bearing the mark of Celtic symbol (and a slight resemblance to Charmed’s Book of Shadows). She takes it and shows it to the other women who both exclaim where they had seen it before – Joanna: at Eleanor Rougement’s door frame and Kat: at the hospital, with Bun drawing it on everything she could get her hands on.
Roxie works in her shop later and is interrupted by noise of Jamie hectically looking for the missing book, claiming that his birth mother, who was from Eastwick, left the book to him. Jamie also reveals that he too was born in Eastwick. Say WHAT?!
Roxie of course feels terrible. This is amplified while Roxie helps Bun with her memory. Bun discovers the book and accuses Roxie of stealing HER book. What What WHAT?!?!? Then after Roxie returns the book (through a ruse involving casserole and a ‘covert’ mission) and apologizes to Jamie, she takes Bun out on a memory tour of the town and they bump into Jamie. After he leaves, Bun exclaims that she knows him and that she held him as a baby, which Roxie acknowledges and vows to help Bun get her memory back.
Gardner vs Gardner: Wiccan Style
After trying to call Raymond dozens of times, Kat calls the law. As she is giving her story to the Sheriff, Raymond waltzes in with
the kids and a new puppy, saying that his phone was turned off, hence him not getting the calls. Bull. CRAP!
Kat and Raymond get into a heated argument as Raymond declares that he found the divorce card from hell sitting on the counter and thought he had been duped into one last rump before Kat dropped the bomb on him. He doesn’t let Kat explain as he goes on to say she left him in the middle of the night and he decided enough was enough and that he probably will take the kids away and not come back the next time. Raymond doesn’t know that he has unleashed the Dogs of War in Kat.
Kat goes to Darryl and demands for him to fire Raymond. Darryl again gives her the divorce card from hell and after working on her resolve; Kat finally relents to the lawyer. Enter Ivanka (guest star Ivana Milicevic), Darryl’s lawyer, and boy you do NOT want to be her opposition. I need her myself, but not for a divorce, just as a lawyer period.
Later, Kat and the girls use the book (see? A SPELL) and casts their first spell on Raymond by giving him the pox. Sure enough Raymond is digging something fierce and has sores to prove it. Kat immediately blames the new puppy for the ‘fleas’, but Raymond declares its not fleas. When they get to their meeting with their divorce lawyers, Raymond is still scratching and after Kat tries to keep up the ruse of fleas. Raymond declares that he will get the problem taken care of and Kat says that he doesn’t know the family physician, which is where Ivanka steps in. She asks Raymond whom would he call in the event that one of the kids got sick, he hesitates before he says “Kat”, because she is a nurse.
After the meeting, one of the kids says their stomach is hurting due to the stress of Kat hating Raymond. Kat confronts Raymond about if he told the kids that she hated him. He declares he didn’t and that if the kids feel that way, then it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why.
Kat later comes home from work and while applying ointment on Raymond’s rash, she reveals that she fired Ivanka and doesn’t want the divorce to get ugly for the kids’ sake. But that while she still loves Raymond, she is not in love with them being together. Her solution is for them to keep the house, but to take turns taking care of the kids in the house, while the other person sleeps somewhere else. Kat later goes to stay with Joanna and I assume he got the first week.
Joanna, Interrupted
The hand that grabs Joanna at the end of last week’s episode is only Joanna’s ex fiancée, Morgan (guest star Brian Hallisay). He catches her off guard and quickly blows him off and heads to work. While talking to Penny about Morgan’s return, we find out that Morgan literally left Joanna (in her wedding gown mind you) at the altar…by a text message. Can we say “OUCH!?”
Penny tries to get Joanna to focus on the Darryl Van Horn story that Penny just got more information on, but Joanna is clearly not focused and clearly still have feelings for Morgan.
She sees Morgan in town and when she approaches him to talk, a talkative Southern woman runs up and it’s apparent that she is someone to Morgan. He introduces the woman as Charlene, his current fiancée. Joanna’s face falls and drops even lower when Charlene reveals that they are getting married that weekend in Eastwick. Poor Joanna…
Later, Joanna is on her way to dinner with Will, but Morgan shows up and works on Joanna’s feelings and the two eventually sleep together, while a lonely, doltish-looking Will sits at the restaurant checking his watch. Poor Will…
The morning after, Joanna hypnotizes Morgan into revealing why he left her and he doesn’t let back. He says a lot, which would be a paragraph alone on here. One thing notable he said was that he couldn’t hear her whining about her writing every day of his life. Joanna was being brutally beaten last night in the emotional department. When Joanna gets to work, she runs into Will, who she hypnotizes him into believing her lie. Later, Morgan shows up with news that he dumped Charlene and wanted to get back with Joanna, who deduces that Morgan has some serious commitment issues and is practically the Runaway Groom. She humiliates Morgan in front of her staff and Will, who says he doesn’t want to have anything to do with Joanna. Poor kids…
Dun Dun DUN!!!! Cliffhanger Moment of the Week
We ended the night with Jamie looking at the photos he took of Roxie at the Lennox Mansion. There is a knock on the door and
when he answers, PENNY walks in and we find out that Jamie has been Penny’s ‘contact’ and the passionate kiss they share seals the deal that they are lovers as well.
Whoa!!!!
Observations
So Jamie is the son of Bun, and possibly, Darryl van Horn. Or he is the son of one of the three women from the 80s, because Bun could have held him, but that doesn’t mean he was hers. Really, didn’t see that coming!
I REALLY didn’t see Penny being his lover/accomplice in bringing down Darryl Van Horn, either!!! Wonder what Penny has at stake for van Horn’s demise other than his evil intentions?
Lay your thoughts on me!
