Syfy has announced that Face Off, its reality-competition series that pits makeup SFX artists against one another, has been renewed for a third season. Though the first two seasons have aired in consecutive Januaries, the 10 episode third season is set to begin production in spring for a summer premiere.
There are currently 10 artists left in the running for the $100,000, the $25,000 in Alcone makeup, and the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid following the dismissal of Brea in last week's episode. On tomorrow's edition of Face Off, titled "Dangerous Beauty", Being Human star Sam Huntington and veteran actress Vivica A. Fox guest star as the contestants have to make a werewolf attack trauma makeup and create a creature that is both beautiful and terrifying.
Additionally, Star Trek: The Next Generation's LeVar Burton will be making an appearance on the February 22nd episode, judging alien creations based off of a sketch from judge, director, and creature designer Patrick Tatopolous. It'll be a special episode, with two artists going home instead of the typical one. With the finale only a few weeks after that, expect it to be the tensest elimination of the season to date.
Hosted by McKenzie Westmore, Face Off is currently casting for the next group of talented individuals to stand in front of esteemed judges Tatopolous, Glenn Hetrick, and Ve Neil. Season one champion Conor McCullagh most recently completed work on soon-to-be-blockbuster The Hunger Games alongside Academy Award-winning Neil.
Face Off airs Wednesdays at 10:00 on Syfy, preceded by new episodes of Ghost Hunters. To get a good look at the work completed in the first four episode, be sure to check out the show's website.
