Spoilerguy - FlashForward Casting a Strong Silent Type For 1.08

Screen shot 2009-09-08 at 1.00.08 PMFlashForward spoilers are scarce, save for a few notices like this. Casting notices, as spoiler fans know, can sometimes yield interesting bits of information concerning your favorite shows. In this case, they may not mean much at all to FlashForward fans - but then again, maybe we should all read between the lines.

Debuting September 24th, FlashForward is one of the most hotly anticipated shows of the season, yet casting notices have been purposefully vague and the title releases have been downright weird at times. You might go as far as to suggest that the FlashForward team is utilizing some good old fashioned misdirection. Consider this casting notice for Gary in episode 8.

[GARY] 40s, Caucasian. Hard, aggressive. A middle-management guy, he's committed to doing whatever the higher-ups need, even if it takes him into morally questionable territory. Please note in current script this is a Non-Speaking role, but with the strong possibility of returning in future episodes. CO-STAR

It would seem that Gary is some kind of heavy. Middle-management has been used as a codeword for everything from mafia hitman to soldier in casting notices. Is he as silent as he seems? For someone being sold as heavily background, there is a huge emphasis on the notion that Gary will be returning in future episodes.
