American Idol Top 5 Results

Until the last ten minutes or so, this had to have been the most boring results show in a really long time.

There were two filler segments with Gordon Ramsey on the Idols cooking omelets and taste testing things blind folded. While it was sort of cute and did make me fall a little more in love with Lauren, it felt like a big waste of time, especially considering the performance levels from last night.

There was a requisite Ford video and a lackluster group song. (Although hearing Haley and Lauren sing together, that would be a pretty awesome top two.)

There was a segment on how they picked songs, with Haley and Scotty revealing themselves to be natural comedians. This devolved into making fun of Jacob's jacket from last week, with varying results.

Lady Antebellum proved why they won a whole  bunch of Grammys, singing their latest song with an ease and naturalness none of these contestants has shown yet.

JLo performed her single. I think she was singing to a backing track as opposed to lip synching, which I can admire. I don't love the song but I wouldn't turn it off if it came on the radio.

Results were in Huff style (go look up George Huff, he was the first person they did this to.) James and Hayley ended up on one side and Lauren and Jacob on another. Scotty was declared safe, and Ryan asked him to choose. Scotty, being a gentleman didn't. Ryan pushed hum towards James and Hayley declaring all three safe.

Lauren promptly began to fall apart. THIS IS THE CONSEQUENCE OF NOT GIVING HER CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. Ahem. I like Lauren and I want her to do well, but she's the kid who has never been told no, so she can't process rejection well. So it was tough to watch her, but I'm glad she mostly held it together.

Jacob was announced as going home, and I breathed a sigh of relief. His performance of "A House is Not a Home" was more relaxed than he's been in weeks.

I'm actually pretty happy with this top four. What about you?
