News was pouring out of Fox last night about next season. Despite the fact that the network's Upfront presentation isn't until next week, it's already giving us an idea about what its schedule will look like next season (although the network apparently won't confirm or deny until the Upfronts). We tried to keep up with the news last night, but here's our round-up of all the recent cancellations, pilot pick-ups and rumors.
Returning Shows
As of yesterday, we know that Glee, Bones, House, Raising Hope, Fringe, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show and American Idol have all been renewed.
Cancellations
Fox has officially canceled Human Target (two seasons in), Lie to Me (three seasons in) and new midseason shows The Chicago Code, Breaking In and Traffic Light. Fox also previously canceled the new comedy series Running Wilde and pulled it from its schedule.
Pilot Pick-Ups
We already knew that Simon Cowell's reality show, The X Factor, will be joining the Fox line-up next season. Between X Factor and American Idol - as well as the renewed shows - it looks like Fox didn't have a lot of free space on its schedule, which may account for the number of axes that fell on shows.
Fox has apparently picked up the pilots Alcatraz (by J.J. Abrams), The Finder (the Bones spin-off show), The New Girl (a comedy starring Zooey Deschanel) and I Hate My Teenage Daughter (a comedy starring Jaime Pressly and Katie Finneran).
Terra Nova - produced by Steven Spielberg - is also supposed to be joining the schedule for next season. The show has already been pushed back several times. As of right now, it's expected to premiere in the Fall. There are some rumors that it could be pushed back again, but that's all conjecture at this point. In any event, the show will eventually land a spot on Fox's schedule.
Rumors
The Hollywood Reporter is stating that several pilots are likely to be passed on by the network, including Locke and Key, Weekends at Bellevue, Iceland, Outnumbered, A Council of Dads, and Tagged.
THR is also reporting that several pilots may be retooled and picked up later in the season, including Exit Strategy, Little in Common, and Family Album.
Fox's Upfront is scheduled for this coming Monday, so we should know the official line-up at that point. Several other networks have made some about early renewals - and some buzz about pilots - but Fox is the first network to have put out so much information about its upcoming season.

Whatever happened to the Napoleon Dynamite cartoon??
I would love to see Alcatraz or Terra Nova paired with Fringe
So would I! That would make for a febulous friday line up.
I am sorry that Lie to Me was excluded on the fall schedule. I liked that show. If NBC does not chose Grimm I hope that Fox chooses it. It would have David Greenwalt, Maybe Tim Minear and Joss Whedon. If the following changes were made. Also, it could have Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Eliza Dushku, Seth Green, Anthony Stewart Head, Juliet Landau could be Marie, James Marsters, etc. It would be similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 only called Grimm. It could even have some of the actors from Dollhouse. It would please the Buffy fans as well as sounding like an intriguing series. On Fox it could be paired with Fringe.
However, It would be great if there could be a season eight of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Fox. It would be great if Fox could continue Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the orignal cast. It could be paired with Grimm with the cast from the pilot. That is another way that would please the Buffy Fans.
Maybe even a season three of Dollhouse would be interesting. Maybe Echo could be Faith. With some of the orginal cast from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Anything could be possible. Also, Lie to Me should come back for a few episodes.
Either Buffy the Vampire season 8 or Dollhouse season 3 or Grimm maybe could follow Bones instead of Fringe. LIe to Me should follow House.
I do not understand why there could not be an 8th season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Fox. It already has 7 sucessful seasons. It could focus on the older viewers. It could follow Bones. It would by great to see the Scooby Gang again. Joss Whedon could produce the series again. It is just a thought if neither Ringer or Sports night gets picked up. It could even have Faith as a regular. Please consider this for the fall!
Also, it could have David Greenwalt and Tim Minear if the pilots Grimm and REM do not get picked up. That would be a big suprose for the Buffy fans if it could come back. If Charlies Angels could come back then why not Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
I meant surprise
It might be better if Buffy the Vampire Slayer season eight was on at eight folllowed by Bones at nine. Dollhouse season thre at eight then Bones at nine. I do not know if this would ever happen but it would be an interesting lineup. Lie to Me should be on eight followed by House at nine. That is what I wish could happen. However, there might be an even better solution for Fox. It should open up the ten O clock hour for scripted programs and have the News at eleven O clock. That would be a way to keep the fans favorite shows like Lie to Me. The there could be mores shows on Fox. It should pick up both Grimm and REM if NBC does not pick them up for fall.
The biggest mystery for the Fox network is why did they send the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer over to the WB and UPN network. They claimed it was too young for their network. However, it lasted seven seasons. If Fox had picked up Buffy the Vampire Slayer then there would be a season eight! It would please the Buffy the Vamprie Slayer fans to have a season eight. Maybe even a season three of Dollhouse. Lie to Me should also come back! Then let the CW have the series I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
Diana, while the return of Buffy or other Joss Whedon shows would, of course, be terrific, the likelihood of it happening is pretty much non-existent, I'm afraid. There's the question of rights ownership and the fact that all of the actors have moved on to other shows (some of them even more successful than Buffy was in terms of ratings).
Also, Charlie's Angels is a reboot and doesn't involve any of the original actors. I think that a Buffy reboot show would not be well-received (especially considering how angry fans are about the potential movie that doesn't involve the show's cast and writers). And, like I said, I don't think all of the actors will reunite for a Buffy season 8 (which is why Whedon and co. decided to turn it into a comic book series – have you read it?).
It's also difficult to just move a show from one network to another, although it's been known to happen when a network passes on a show. But again, it's difficult because there are contracts and ownership rights involved.
However, there is a new Buffy The Vampire Slayer book being publised in the fall. It is called Buffy Verse Catalog. We should all buy this book.
I really think that there could be either a movie or a season eight of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the orignal Cast and Joss Whedon. What would really be needed is the perfect script or movie idea that would follow the orginal series. With a few surprises as well. There could even be a cross over with Angel.
Since they are having trouble with the X Factor maybe Lie to Me can fill the void until the problems are solved. The X Factor could be on later in the year.
