Glee's Cory Monteith Hosts The Gemini's

Glee's Cory Monteith headed back to his homeland this past weekend to host Canada's 25th annual Gemini Awards.

The awards show, which was broadcast live on November 13th on the Showcase and Global channels, honored the best of Canadian television and was held at Toronto's historic Winter Garden Theatre.

Highlights of the show included a tribute to Degrassi, which has been on the Canadian airwaves for 30 years now. Nina Dobrev of The Vampire Diaries, a former Degrassi: The Next Generation cast member, was on hand for the tribute and remarked how happy she was to be part of the Degrassi family. Other highlights included performances by Elvis Costello with Feist, Ron Sexsmith, Kendel Carson and Barry Bales. Monteith was particularly stoked by Costello's appearance and performance and tweeted this picture of the two with the words "no big deal."

Monteith was beyond excited and honored to be apart of the awards show. In a phone interview with Canada.com, he stated that he was "over the moon (to be hosting the Geminis)" and that "it was a real pinch me moment." He had a bright smile throughout the whole broadcast and even played the drums.
