Fringe offers one of the fall's most anticipated premieres. At the end of Fringe's first season, Agent Olivia Dunham (Ana Torv) ventured into an alternate dimension and left fans swarming with questions. Fringe's show-runners have promised that the new revelation of an alternate dimension - complete with an apparent bridge to ours - will NOT signal a new more demanding serialized arc, so in part we should expect more of the weird procedural style episodes of last season, but I doubt there is a single Fringe fan that doesn't care about what goes on "over there." Will we get our answers? This set of promo pics from the Fringe season 2 premiere episode, "A New Day in the Old Town," suggests that Fringe will kick things off with one of its patented monster of the week episodes - then again, maybe Fringe's story maestros will demonstrate their ability to juggle the serialized plot with the weekly freak-show.
As for the off-screen drama, it appears that Fringe's casting contentions from last season may have been resolved. Kirk Acevedo is still listed amongst the 'stars' of the show, with once-thought-replacement Meghan Markle clearly in the guest star column. Fringe season 2 premieres Thursday, September 17th, at 9:00pm EST.
