The Fox Network has decided to jump on the Twitter bandwagon (because who hasn't at this point?). This week, Fox will be reairing the season 1 finale of Fringe and the series premiere of Glee with an interactive Twitter experience.
Dubbed a "tweet-peat", Fringe will re-air last season's finale at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, during which time stars Joshua Jackson and John Noble and producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman will be live-tweeting. Fox will display their tweets in the bottom third portion of the screen. Fans will also be able to take to their twitter accounts and tweet their own questions by writing #FRINGE in their own posts.
Glee's pilot will re-air at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4 and stars Lea Michele, Kevin McHale, Mark Salling, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley and Chris Colfe will participate. Fan's should use the tag #GLEE in their tweets.
I'm tired of writing the word "tweets".
Basically, this is like an interactive version of DVD commentary or those "enhanced" Lost episodes that are aired with facts and trivia popping up at the bottom of the screen.
What do think of this? Gimmick or cool idea?

We were unaware of the Tweet-Peat until Fringe came on tonight. We assumed the tweeting was unintentional interference of some kind until pulling up this site to find this distraction was planned. Even people patronizing Twitter may not like their view of the show obscured and hearing dialogue distracted by the additional video. PLEASE don't do it on a regular basis–at least not on Fringe!

This is absolutely ridiculous. IF anyone with any power sees this comment please take it off right away and never do it again. It is very annoying and makes watching the show very unpleasant. I will discontinue watching the show if it continues on future episodes.

Relax folks, this isn't some new way you're going to be forced to watch the show. If Fox continues to do it at all it would be done on repeat episodes only, just like Lost did. So you'll still get to watch the show and not be interfered with any. However, I doubt this continues.

I was so excited to watch an episode of Fringe after missing it all summer, I barely noticed that the bottom third of my screen was missing. It wasn't horrible. I even kinda liked when they were commenting on the final 15 minutes, watching as the audience rather than replying to story questions. But I only liked it as a one-time thing. My other half said that he wasn't going to watch a show that was begging for attention, so I was on my own.
Query: What are people who post on Twitter called tweeters and not twits?

Dont ever do that again. I tried to get my bf to watch Glee and he was enjoying it up until the 'tweets' started. He changed the channel after 15 minutes because it was so distracting and watched Grey's Anatomy (and is now a fan of that show). Great job Fox.
