As you may have noticed, I haven't posted any news items about Fringe's renewal for a fourth season. That's because of two reasons: 1) I've been indisposed this week and found out a little late and 2) It would have mainly been a post consisting of all caps and unbound praise for the show. You know, like everything I've ever written about Fringe.
Here's something else I'm liking about Fringe: we're getting more of Sam Weiss.
Yeah, that guy. He's the bowling alley owner we met back in season two who proved to be more than just a physical therapist. In fact, he wrote that First People book that popped up earlier this season but took the background in the latest batch of episodes. If you thought the writers had forgotten about that storyline, though...
Oh, who am I kidding? The writers of Fringe are still hearkening back to peripheral storylines from season one. If you think they've forgotten anything, you've obviously not seen enough Fringe.
It looks like we'll be getting some concrete answers, though, simply judging from the episode title of 3.21, the penultimate episode of the season: "The Last Sam Weiss."
The episode is already getting attention from the fan community for that title alone. Is it a reference to Sam's connection with the First People? Almost assuredly. Is he the last of the first people? That's certainly implied. But when it refers to him as the last Sam Weiss (specifically), that's where I'm starting to get confused -- and I mean that in the totally good, Fringe-you've-befuddled-me-again way. Were all the First People Sam Weiss? It's certainly implied that there's more than one Sam Weiss, but how exactly that lineage works is beyond me. Thankfully, though, we're only... A month away from finding out.
Start prepping your cryogenic chambers now. It's going to be a long wait.
Fringe returns on April 15 with the episode "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide."
The first thing that popped into my head was the movie, The One, starring Jet Li. I'm thinking that there isn't just the one alternate universe and that every Sam Weiss from each of them is dead leaving him as the last.
I know there are no new episodes of Fringe until April 15th. But there are re-runs Fridays and Saturdays, and I believe even Saturday night re-runs over the summer. I've put a lot of work in myself to root for and get people to watch and blog and driving around with a slogan on my car and am so stoked for the 4th season that I would like to say, we do not have time to slack off. So Fringies: keep watching even the re-runs, keep blogging, keep recruiting new viewers, still do everything you can to promote. It is a show worth investing and fighting for. Fringe rules!
All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you could fix if you werent too busy in search of attention.
