Could This Shocking Fringe Rumor Be True?

Fringe has never been a show to have a huge amount of spoilers. Sure, you'd stumble upon one every once in a while, but very rarely is there a future plotline released that doesn't at least originate from official channels... Until now.

Yes, it seems there's a big "spoiler" running around out there on the internet about the second half of the show's third season. I put spoiler in quotation marks because, well, it hasn't exactly been confirmed yet. But as unofficial as it is, it's already lighting up the fan community. Fans are really emotionally invested in this potential spoiler, and I think that's because it's so damn shocking: the claim is that Altlivia is pregnant -- with Peter's child. Here's the original post from SpoilerTV:

I'm a Vancouver Fringe fan, and as often happens in cases like this, I know people who work on the show. I have a MAJOR spoiler for you all that I've been sitting on for about a month now out of respect for the people who shared it with me. Now that I'm getting signs that it's about to start leaking for real, I'm going to let it out myself.

Alt-Livia is pregnant and we'll be finding out about it coming up pretty soon. The episode in which we learn this was in post-production about a month ago so it should be airing in the near future.

What do you guys think about this spoiler and the potential implications it has for the storyline and Peter/Olivia?

Is it true? There's no way to really know, is there? In terms of believability, sure, I could see the storyline happening. But do I think the source is reliable? Well, considering it's mostly anonymous, it could very well just be a red herring from someone trying to cause a stir in the fan community. The two options are pretty equally likely, in my opinion. What do you think?

Fringe returns next Friday, January 21, with the episode "Firefly."

If this is true, it could work. It makes sense in terms of the storyline they have set up so far. But I think they've put Olivia through the wringer already. This would just be more for the mattress. At first I hated it but then when I got to thinking about it, it could be really good. Use the child for the machine as opposed to Peter?

It's been speculated before so it's not really a shocker. I think it's kind of cool, that would really throw a wrench in to everything. If the machine responds to Peter, it could very well respond to his child and then who knows where they could go with it?

I posted about this 4 days ago as a result of actual comments made by Fringe star Jasika Nicole that hint at it being much more than just a rumor.

Its funny, at the end of firefly just before he shot Peter, the observer said "Being a father must be difficult" or something to that effect, my first reaction was "OMFG Altiliva is friggen pregnant" Then I came to my senses that he must have been referring to Walter's choice to let Peter chase the observer. After reading this article though now I am curious if my first reaction was warranted and that it was in fact a hint to us viewers of what's to come.

I hope not its not true.

I think it's likely. That line dropped at the end of "The Firefly" by September to Peter, "I t must be hard, being a father." IMO was no accident!

I personally think it is an excellent way to keep the red universe relavent to the over all story and could also potentually add the possibility of a third universe at hand. Imagine cousins from different universes who have similar-pattern-like names, but one has been relocated in space and time…and if you mix blue and red together you should get 'purple' (violet sedan chair).

Erm. What’s so “shocking” about this? The series is already chock full of shock… Anything that comes close to actual shock, that’d be killing off the main characters.

What a waste of the internet space.
