Tonight on Fringe: 4.05 "Novation"

How do you return to a world where no one remembers you? It's a tough question for Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson), who made his return to Fringe in the final moments of the episode "Subject 9." After an extended three-week hiatus (thanks, World Series!), we'll finally get the answer to that question in tonight's episode "Novation."

Peter is, naturally, treated with suspicion by his former friends. Broyles doesn't seem to particularly like him, while Olivia just isn't quite sure what to make of him. Walter has the strongest reaction, though, which forms the emotional backbone of the episode.

While I would have liked for the episode to focus solely on Peter's return, Fringe division immediately begins work on a new case -- this one once again concerning that pesky shapeshifter Nadine (Michelle Krusiec) who last made an appearance in the season premiere, "Neither Here Nor There." You can expect a few answers about who she is and what she wants -- and a lot more questions.

Fringe certainly has a lower-budget feel following the cuts made to production in order to get the show renewed. But any Fringe is better than none at all, and while the show may have lost its cinematic quality, it's still one of the best shows on television. "Novation" is a strong episode -- perhaps the strongest of the season thus far. Check back to TVOvermind tonight for a full review of the episode.

Agreed. Glad I wasn't imagining the 'lower budget' feel to the show. Looking forward to your review.
