Catelyn arrived at Renly Baratheon’s camp in this week’s episode of Game of Thrones. After being introduced to his new wife, Margaery, and his new guard, Brienne of Tarth, she told him that she wanted to broker a peace between him and his brother, Stannis. Renly seemed far more interested in becoming King than making any concessions to his brother. We also got an inside peek at Renly’s rather unusual marriage. He is clearly sleeping with his wife’s brother, Loras, but Margaery seems to have no problems with that. In fact, it’s clear that while she cares a great deal for Renly, she is fully prepared to support him in their unusual arrangement, so long as she gets pregnant and can continue their family line.
Meanwhile, Tyrion decided to test the members of the Small Council in order to figure out their loyalty. Approaching each of them, he planted the seed that he wanted to marry off his niece to one of three different men in order to create alliances. Telling each of them to keep the news from Cersei, he was soon confronted by his sister. It turns out that Pycelle had spilled the beans to Cersei, and when Tyrion had him arrested, his sister was furious.
Arya and her caravan were visited once again by Joffrey’s soldiers, who decided to kill several members of the group. In the end, they killed a teenage boy and Arya managed to convince them that he was Gendry.
In the next episode of Game of Thrones, Joffrey is furious when Robb achieves further victories in the north, prompting him to punish Sansa. But when Tyion tries to put the kibosh on Joffrey’s cruely, he learns that his nephew isn’t eager to play by the rules. Catelyn helps set up a meeting between Renly and Stannis, while Arya and Gendry see horrors when they are taken to Harrenhal. Finally, Daenerys and her people arrive at a large and prosperous city, Qarth, but will they be welcomed?
