Game of Thrones Thanksgiving Menu Features Festive Dishes

While the world of Game of Thrones might not have a Thanksgiving, that doesn't mean that you can't take your Turkey Day dinner cues from Westeros. HBO has released a Game of Thrones themed Thanksgiving menu, full of delicious-sounding meals inspired by the world of Westeros. Taken from the Game of Thrones food website Inn at the Crossroads (yes, such a thing actually exists), the menu features some meals that wouldn't be out of place on the late King Robert's plate (no boar, unfortunately).

Want some spiced wine just like the Old Bear himself drinks? Why, just take some cinnamon, cranberries, honey, nutmeg, and a few other ingredients and add it to some red wine for a truly tasty beverage (though not one to be enjoyed before driving or patrolling the Wall).

Or how about some pigeon pie, just like King Joffrey likes it? Good luck finding the pigeons at your local supermarket, but if you're able to locate some, you can cook them to perfection with this recipe.

If you're looking to give some usually bland veggies a seasonal twist, spiced squash (a favorite at King's Landing) also has a mouthwatering recipe which you can read here.

You can read HBO's full list of Game of Thrones Thanksgiving meal suggestions here. However, my favorite Inn at the Crossroads menu item isn't on HBO's list. No, it's the cake pictured above right. Perhaps you're looking for a particularly chilling Thanksgiving dinner finisher -- one that will leave your family talking. Try a Weirwood Cake instead, so you can pray to the old gods after your meal. That'll really impress the in-laws.

For those of you who want to be thankful for Game of Thrones season 2, that premieres next spring.
