Game of Thrones Season 2 Slated for April 2012 Premiere

Eager to return to Westeros? Can't wait to see what happened to Daenerys across the narrow sea? Well, my fellow Game of Thrones fans, we've got a little bit more waiting left. The second season of the hit HBO fantasy drama has been slated to premiere in April 2012.

There's been no specific date set, but that puts the premiere about six months away. That's quite the long time to wait to see what happens when Tyrion arrives at King's Landing, or if Sansa Stark will ever get her revenge on her betrothed, the despicable Joffrey. And honestly, who doesn't want to see more bromance scenes between Littlefinger and Varys?

We'll keep you posted when more information about season 2 becomes available. We already know that there have been plenty of new cast members added to the series, including Stephen Dillane as the self-declared King Stannis Baratheon, Carice van Houten as the dangerous sorceress Melisandre, Liam Cunningham as the former pirate Davos Seaworth, and Gemma Whelan as Theon Greyjoy's feisty sister Asha. Check out a list of the new cast here. You can also watch a brief teaser for the second season here. Both of those things will only make you more excited (and anxious) for the new season, which just can't come fast enough.
