Queen Daenerys Targaryen is taking her act to the silver screen in July 2015. ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has landed the coveted role of Sarah Connor in the new ‘Terminator’ reboot by Paramount Pictures. The news was first reported by Deadline.com on Friday pointing out that Clarke will take over the role made famous by Linda Hamilton in 1984. ‘Terminator’ just one of director James Cameron’s monster films will make its way back to the movies despite being dormant for several years.
Deadline.com reported that the role came down to Brie Larson and Clarke. They also reported, to the disappointment of everyone, the film will not be direct by James Cameron, but by Alan Taylor (not a bad backup). Perhaps the biggest question is the return of the aging Arnold Schwarzenegger to one of his most famous roles. Arnie has told several reports he’s excited to return to the silver screen as the famous cyborg. The film seems to be all systems go for this Spring’s start of production.
As for Clarke, her character is one of the few that isn’t going anywhere on ‘Game of Thrones’. As fans, I don’t think anyone wants to see Emilia Clarke leave the role of Daenerys for another actress. There’s absolutely no indication that the film (or her movie career for that matter) will interfere with her job on ‘Game of Thrones’. Good news for now. It’ll be interesting to see her as Sarah Connor as well.
