Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Da Vinci Code… The list goes on and on when it comes to film adaptations of epic books and when we say film adaptations we mean billion dollar movie franchises. Is Game of Thrones next?
According to The Huffington Post, writer George R.R. Martin is considering taking his Game series to the big screen. Thus, while we’re all desperately waiting for the fourth season to start we now have something else to obsess about. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin openly discussed that there are tentatively being discussed behind the scenes. According to Martin:
“It all depends on how long the main series runs,” the fantasy author said. “Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know.“
Before we get too ahead of ourselves here let’s not forget the biggest season of the series is upcoming in a couple of weeks. There are going to be more character deaths, believe it or not, than any other season and the dragons are going to get very very big. Of the new season, showrunner David Benioff said, “there’s just no relaxing this season, if we can pull it off it’ll be the best season to date.” Can Game of Thrones get any more awesome?
