Not physically big, either. Glee is becoming somewhat of a phenomena. I'm not afraid to admit that I liked the pilot. It's sort of like male hugging. Admitting you like Glee doesn't make you a pansy, instead it's like the height of artistic flexibility. Besides, those damn kids can sing. Okay, to be honest with you, I'm just sort of amazed that someone who creates Nip/Tuck could come up with anything remotely resembling Glee, but all culture shock aside it is a decent show despite the hyper-nerdish packaging. Next week, FOX will be airing the Directors cut of Glee, and to celebrate they are launching a new contest looking for the biggest Gleek - which is short hand for Glee Freak. Here are all of the deets.
Do you feel the constant urge to sing the GLEE cast version of "Don't Stop Believin'"? Have you rallied your friends to watch GLEE this fall? Think you're the biggest GLEEk? If so, then prove it! GLEE, the genre-defying new comedy series premiering Wednesday, Sept. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, invites die-hard GLEEks or fans of GLEE to prove their GLEEkiness and vie for the title of "Biggest GLEEk" at www.fox.com/gleek.
Can you make it to No. 1 and claim bragging rights as the "Biggest GLEEk"? Sign up any time now through Sept. 24 at www.fox.com/gleek. From there you can link to your Twitter and MySpace accounts as well as install the "Biggest GLEEk" application on Facebook Platform to link your "Biggest GLEEk" profile with your Facebook profile. Start earning points right away for fan activiGLEEs such as mentioning GLEE in status updates, posting links of the day to your profile or inviting friends to join the competition. ActiviGLEEs are valued at a certain number of points, and totals will be tracked on the GLEEderboard. GLEEks will move up the ranks from "Sectionals" to "Regionals," and top point-earners will make it all the way to "Nationals."
Also at www.fox.com/gleek, fans can enter the "GLEEk Sweepstakes" for a chance to win GLEE t-shirts, hats and autographed photos. One grand prize winner will win a trip for four to Los Angeles to meet and have dinner with the GLEE cast. The no purchase necessary sweepstakes, which is not affiliated with Facebook, Twitter or MySpace, runs now through September 24 and is open to fans 15 years of age or older (18 for Maine residents). Visit www.fox.com/gleek for more information as well as official rules and terms of service.
Tune in for a special director's cut of the pilot, which features never-before-seen footage, Wednesday, Sept. 2 (8:58-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Encore episodes of GLEE will also air for three consecutive Fridays beginning Sept. 4 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).
