The Glee cast are the taking part in this year's Fashion's Night Out on Thursday, September 8 in stores in New York and Los Angeles. To promote this appearance they not only feature in the pages of Vogue's all important September issue but have also recorded a video to further advertise the event.
Fashion's Night Out was established in 2009 "to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry's economy, and put the fun back in shopping." There will be a whole host of designers, models, celebrities and performers participating in the evening's shopping festivities and the Glee cast will definitely be a big draw for many Gleeks (hopefully a bigger success than the 3D film). Glee executive-producer Ryan Murphy told Vogue that for him Fashion's Night Out was "all about grooviness and fabulousness and excitement!" and that he wanted the fans to share in this fun occasion.
As the Glee cast have become regulars on the pages of fashion magazines and in weekly tabloids for their clothing choices on both the red carpet and in paparazzi shots, it is not a stretch to see why they are participating in this event. Chris Colfer as Kurt has the role of the biggest fashion diva but he admitted to Vogue that "When Glee started, I had no idea who Marc Jacobs was. In no way was I a fashion person!" Despite Kurt's extensive wardrobe Colfer is still not the biggest fashion junkie and that title goes to Kevin McHale (Artie), Colfer reveals that "Whenever Kevin sees me in an outfit, he feels the fabric and looks at the label, then goes and buys it!"
The photograph of the cast in Vogue (as seen above) is missing two notable New Directions members- Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Santana (Naya Rivera). A Vogue rep told New York Magazine's The Cut that this was due to "individual scheduling issues" but I'm sure Glee fans will be disappointed by their absence. It also appears that the promo video was shot at the time time and is also missing Riley and Rivera. This picture of the cast that features in the September issue of Vogue has been criticised not only for the missing cast members but also for some dodgy photoshop.
