Now that the Glee finale has aired and we have to wait until April for new episodes, I thought I would put together a retrospective on all of my favorite songs from episodes 1 to 13 of this season of Glee.
I wish I could have put the performances for you for all of the songs, because in some cases it's the performances themselves that make the song one of my favorites, but Icould only get the videos for two of them. For the others, I've at least included the songs.
So here they are, in no particular order...
Rachel - Don't Rain on My Parade
Lea Michele is a Broadway star and while I love her singing anything, when she belts out show tunes, she is glorious. Usually when I think of "Don't Rain on my Parade", I always remember that scene in Mrs. Doubtfire. But now I will always remember Rachel singing it last night in the Glee finale. That girl has a set of pipes on her. And while the entire song is good, I started clapping right around the time she was singing "I'll march my band out..." and the whole group walked down the aisle to join her up on stage. When she sung her last "parade" I wanted to give her a standing ovation. This song will cheer you up like no other and Rachel's rendition is wonderful.
Puck - Sweet Caroline
I can remember with absolute clarity the moment I fell in love with Mark Salling (Puck). I was reviewing the sneak peek of Sweet Caroline before I posted it on this site and I literally sat up and said "Hel-lo, Puck!". Who the heck knew this boy was such a crooner? Hell, this whole episode, and even his scenes with Rachel, made me want to take him home to meet my mother. Puck may vary between a sweet guy and a jerk, and he may have a ridiculous mohawk, but he can sing to me anytime.
Will & New Directions - Bust a Move
A lot of people don't like to hear Will rap, but I love this performance of Bust a Move. First of all, I had completely forgotten this song ever existed from my own youth. It's so catchy! And it makes you want to get up and dance - which I did at a party last weekend, along with my uncle. If only he could breakdance like Mattew Morrison...
