'Glee' sings its way to a second season

If any of you were worried that Glee wouldn't get a second season, worry no more. The show, undoubtedly FOX's biggest new hit of the 2009 - 2010 television season, was renewed for another year on Monday, when FOX announced that season two would be a definite reality for the freshman musical comedy.

"We've loved 'Glee' ever since it was a pilot script, so it's been an incredible thrill to watch the show take root and see audiences embrace these characters in such a huge way this season," claimedFox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly. "The show is a true and rare gem in television. We couldn't be more proud of what Ryan Murphy and the 'Glee' team have created so far and can't wait to see what they come up with for Season Two."

The series, which has been called one of the American Film Institute's top television programs of the year, recently picked up four Golden Globe nominations as well -- basically securing a second season long before FOX made the announcement.

And if any Gleeks would like a role in the newly announced second season, the doors have been opened wide. Three new roles are going to be cast by the time the show's sophomore season rolls around, and the producers of the show are looking to fill those roles by auditioning singers, American Idol style. Professionals and amateur singers (ages 16 to 26) will be accepted in the auditions, which will be shown on television leading up to the second season's premiere this fall, when the three new cast members will make their debut as part of the Glee choir.

Glee will be returning to the small screen in April to finish off its first season, and the second season of Glee should be expected to premiere sometime this fall.
