Emmy and Golden Globe nominated Glee star Matthew Morrison will be embarking on a solo summer tour in support of his upcoming debut album, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The tour will begin June 18th in Minneapolis, coincidentally the same day the Glee cast tour will end, and will span 5 weeks and 22 cities before coming to a close on July 23rd in Los Angeles. Morrison appeared at one date during last summer's Glee! Live in Concert tour and there's no word on whether he'll be making other special appearances this summer. His tour, however, will be hitting mostly theatres, as local glee clubs will compete to open for Morrison. Morrison recently released his first solo single "Summer Rain" from an album said to be released in May 2011. He will be the first Glee cast member to release solo material since the show premiered in 2009 and eventually became a pop culture phenomenon.
Matthew Morrison isn't the person from the Glee cast that I would have expected to step out first, but there's enough love for the show and the song where I think this will be a fun way to get your fix of Mr. Schue (Morrison is supposed to be singing songs from the show) and get a deeper understanding of Matthew Morrison the man. Presale for tickets to the tour will begin April 4th at 10:00A.M. (per Ticketmaster) and if you guys haven't heard "Summer Rain" yet, you can check it out here.
Will you be checking out Matthew's tour? Are you looking forward to having the first solo album from a Glee cast member? Who do you think should be the next Glee cast member to try out a solo career?
