Just when you thought Glee - let alone Joss Whedon - couldn't possibly get any cooler, they have.  FOX has already announced a full season order for Glee, which probably surprised no-one, and now Ausiello has broken the news that Joss Whedon will be directing one of those episodes.  Whedon famously turned Buffy The Vampire Slayer into a musical for an episode with universally praised results, so odds are he'll be able to handle the musically inclined Glee.  The question is, who will be poking their head in from the Whedon repertory players?  Seems like the Dollhouse gang will have plenty of time on their hands around then. (Boo!).

From Ausiello:

gleeTurns out, the genius who gave us not only the “Once More, With Feeling” musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer but also Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is a big fan of Ryan Murphy’s new phenom. So when Twentieth (the studio behind Glee) approached him about the gig, pretty much his only reservation was scheduling.

And there’s no reason to panic, Dollhouse fans: I’m told the auteur’s moonlighting in no way, shape or form suggests that that show is a goner. He’d most likely tackle the side job after Eliza Dushku and Co. have wrapped their 13-episode order.

CLARISSA: ARGH!  Jon stole this article right from under my very nose.  So diabolical.  I would just like to add that Joss Whedon is a musical genius.  He created the most powerful song in the history of show tunes.  I am, of course, referring to the seminal "They Got the Mustard Out" song from the Buffy musical episode.  Near perfection.  I mean, they got the mustard out and then sang about it!  On my best day I couldn't have written a better song.  I have no doubt that he will do wonders with Glee.

I can now sleep better at night that there is a God out there.

Joss Whedon is a god to me. He helped me get through high school and I even sent an invitation to my graduation in 2001. He responded with a cast photo signed by the entire cast and himself.

OMG, awesome that he got back to you, Mark! What a memento!

(I may have to cry in the corner now, knowing you graduated a year before my daughter!!)

I can't wait to see the Whedon episode- any idea which episode it will be?

Pixie, I subbed at my old junior high last year and I still felt as if I was a student. But the photo was probably a standard one that they sent out to everybody who wrote in, but the fact that he thought about me… Made my year.
