There seemed to be a few trends on the Golden Globes red carpet last night. The first was light colored dresses. A lot of ladies wore beige or light pink. These colors can be tricky depending on your complexion. If you're very pale, it can often wash you out. another trend seemed to be long, flat hair, often with blunt bangs. I personally think Sandra Bullock is a beautiful woman, but her hair, especially when paired with that dress, wasn't doing her any favors. Not bothering to do something fancy with your hair seems to take away from the overall dressiness of a gown (ie. Olivia Wilde).
Another trend was sleeves. Those barely worked on anyone. I personally thought Scarlett Johansson's dress would have been gorgeous without the sleeves. The sleeves age her look. And don't get me started on Julianne Moore and that one-sleeved debacle.
Angelina Jolie decided to go for boho chic again, and once again managed to age herself with a single dress that seemed more suited for a woman far above her mid-30s age. Couple that with hair that looked like it hadn't seen a brush in at least 3 days and you have to wonder whether she tried at all.
Lest you think I disapproved of all the dresses, let me say that I thought Sofia Vegara, Carrie Underwood, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dianna Agron, Heather Morris, Elizabeth Moss, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Amy Adams looked fantastic. I thought Dianna Agron in particular was a shining example of a pale person wearing a light color to perfection, coupled with a classy hair style that polished off the entire look. Her outfit was understated, but sometimes that works better than outrageous.
There's a lot of red carpet photos below for you to look through. What are your thoughts on some of the dresses?
