Gossip Girl is returning for an 11 episode final season in the fall and moving to Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. (click here for more on The CW's fall schedule).  What's in store for the Upper East Siders in their sixth and final season?  The synopsis from The CW hints at a few potential storylines:

"Season six opens with the Upper East Siders working together to find one of their own.  Serena has gone off the grid, beyond even the reach of Gossip Girl.  Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best, but even they can’t imagine where they will ultimately find her.  Meanwhile, Blair has offered Chuck her heart, but is her love enough to help him win back his empire?  Lonely Boy Dan has written a new book that promises to make even more trouble than the first, and this time he has no desire to remain anonymous.  Nate is determined to finally reveal the true identity of Gossip Girl, thereby making a name for The Spectator, and himself.  Lily and Rufus turn on one another when Rufus makes a surprising new ally who threatens Lily and her family.  Anywhere else it would be too much drama to handle, but this is the Upper East Side.  And when Bart Bass, Jack Bass and Georgina Sparks show up to raise hell, it’s a fight to the spectacular series finale.  Who comes out on top?  That’s one secret I’ll never tell… xoxo, Gossip Girl."

Excited for this, Gossip Girl fans?  It looks like Dan may be on the outs with his friends again after they see his new exposé novel, while Serena has once again vanished.  But the big question is whether Chuck and Blair will make it to the end of the series as a couple.  My money is on them figuring out a way for Chuck to re-take his empire.

Gossip Girl Season 6 Teasers: What's in Store for the Upper East Siders in Their Final Season?

The Gossip Girl season finale aired this week and quite a few relationships were devastated by the turn of events.  Blair made her choice, Serena got into some trouble, and even Lola started a few schemes of her own.

Serena vs. Blair: The theft of Serena's computer in the previous episode led to Gossip Girl continuously releasing pages from Blair's diaries in the finale.  Blair immediately attempted damage control, not only trying to keep the pages from Dan, but also from any restaurants/designers/friends that she had offended in her diaries.  But when the pages kept getting released, Blair focused all of her rage on Serena, blaming her for the mess.  She released one of Serena's secrets, causing her to lose a summer job with director David O. Russell.  Once again, the two BFFs were at odd.  Blair ordered Serena out of her life and Serena set up a scheme to get the ultimate revenge against Blair.

Blair-Chuck-Dan Triangle: Blair's diaries revealed that she clearly still loved Chuck, despite her insistence to the contrary, but it was a heart-to-heart with her mother that made her realize which man she wanted to be with: Chuck.

Lily-Bart-Rufus Triangle: Bart's return meant that Lily was essentially married to both him and Rufus.  She met with Bart, who insisted that he would let her choose which man she wanted to stay married to.  But Rufus wasn't so generous.  He conned Bart into signing annulment papers.  When Lily found out, she was furious.  A week later, she and Rufus decided to end their relationship, leaving her free to spend the summer with Bart in the Hamptons.

Bart's Betrayal: Chuck held a press conference to announce the return of his father to Bass Industries.  But Bart used the conference as an opportunity to re-take the company, announcing that he would be the only person to lead Bass Industries.  Furious, Chuck confronted his father, who told him that he wasn't serious enough to run the company.  According to Bart, Chuck had spent far too long neglecting the company in favor of trying to win Blair's affections.  A week later, Chuck set off to reunite with Jack, who had also been frozen out when Bart made his announcement.

Serena's Revenge Brings Us Back to the Pilot: In the pilot, Serena slept with Nate at a party, devastating Blair and causing the girls to have a huge falling out.  After Blair threw her out of the Waldorf apartment in the finale, she convinced Penelope to delay Blair from arriving at a party and reuniting with Dan.  At the party, she manipulated Dan into sleeping with her and taped the whole thing.  When Dan discovered her subterfuge, he was furious, but she insisted that she still loved him.  Despite her protests, he told her that they would never be together again.  Once again, Serena left town.  Will she disappear like she did before Gossip Girl began?

Is This the End of Chuck and Blair? Despite Blair having chosen Chuck, the news came at an inopportune time.  Having been lectured by Bart, Chuck realized that he had lost so much in his attempts to be with Blair.  She told him that the two of them could become business partners together, but he said that he needed to go off and find his own identity.

Lola and Charlie: William finally turned over Carol's portion of CeCe's estate to Lola, who wanted to use it to help defend her mother.  But when she discovered that Lily was attempting to sabotage Carol's defense, she decided to sign her fortune over to Charlie, provided that she would use it to take Lily down.

Blair's Future: Eleanor had a surprise for her daughter: she was giving her control of Waldorf Designs.  When Blair's relationships both fizzled out, she headed to Paris with her mother for the summer.  As it turns out, Jack and Chuck had also headed to Paris and Jack decided to play matchmaker by calling Blair and inviting her to the casino where he and Chuck were trying to earn some money.  Blair came, vowing that she would fight for Chuck this time.

Team Scandal: Dan headed off to Italy for the summer to write his new book with a little help from Georgina, who was going to prove invaluable in writing his big expose of the Upper East Side.

That's it for season 5 of Gossip Girl!  The show will be returning next season for a shortened season (perhaps the final season?).

Gossip Girl Season Finale: Who Did Blair Choose? What Schemes Were Exposed? What Will Happen Over the Summer?

There is a lot going down on tonight's Gossip Girl season finale; especially for Blair (Leighton Meester) who has to make a huge romantic decision and endures the ultimate betrayal from her best friend Serena (Blake Lively). Chuck (Ed Westwick) is still dealing with the repercussions of his father's return and Bart's (Robert John Burke) 'now alive' status also means that Lily (Kelly Rutherford) has a big decision to make.

The real Gossip Girl has returned and she is gunning for Serena and Blair in a big way and what better scheme than to tear the two apart. We have seen these best friends fight and fall out many times before, including some physical confrontations but they have always made up afterwards. As you can see in this sneak peek Blair is furious at Serena who is trying to backtrack and justify the betrayal of reading and copying Blair's journals, but will it be something else all together that could destroy this friendship? Blair sends her minions to repair all the damage caused by her diary comments and to find Serena's biggest secret; we have already seen many scandals through the seasons so it is hard to imagine that they will find something to outshine one of these but it is always a possibility.

The other big Blair story is more divisive amongst viewers as Blair will be making a choice between Dan (Penn Badgley) and Chuck tonight; who do you think or hope it will be? Dan and Blair had a strong start (well as strong as you can get in Gossip Girl) to their relationship but over the past few episodes cracks have started to appear as Blair has been spending more time with Chuck. Dan has shown signs of jealously and he is especially concerned about Blair's lack of "I love you" after he said the three magical words to her. Blair doesn't want Dan to see any of her journal pages that are springing up on Gossip Girl, though this will be a hard task to complete even if Blair has taken Dan's phone. Chuck will be preoccupied with his father's return tonight as thanks to their successful scheme last week it looks like Bart can publicly show that he is alive; what will this mean for the business empire that Chuck has been managing in his absence? Lily will also feel the effects of Bart's return as this now means that she is technically married to two men. Things are still rather rocky between Lily and Rufus (Matthew Settle); will this bring them back together or cause more distance?

Not everyone is facing huge relationship woes as it would seem that all is well for Nate (Chace Crawford) and Lola (Elle Rae Peck) and he will be taking the next big step and asking her to move in with him. Is Nate moving out of The Empire? William (Billy Baldwin) will also be making an appearance tonight so he could show some fatherly disapproval at this commitment. The producer's preview that you can view below also drops this Lola humdinger saying that "Lola gets some huge news in this episode that not only impacts her, but impacts her relationship with Nate and possibly, quite possibly the future of the entire Upper East Side." What could this be?

Another familiar face that will be returning tonight is Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) who I'm sure will be bringing her own special mix of mischief and mayhem to proceedings and Georgina always manages to liven things up.

Tonight on Gossip Girl: It's Blair vs Serena in the Finale

For those of you who can’t get enough of the antics of the Upper East Side, it’s time to celebrate: Gossip Girl has been renewed for a sixth season.  While the CW laid waste to a number of shows this spring (click here for details), Gossip Girl managed to secure an 11-episode final season which will surely see things get worse before they get better… in the best possible way, of course.

Let’s face it: This season had its share of ups and downs. Gossip Girl’s identity was revealed (well, sort of); Chuck learned his parents were alive, dead and not who he thought they were at all; Blair married a prince, lost her baby and ended up blackmailed; Dan ended up with Blair (did any of us really see that coming? Really?); and Serena ultimately concluded that being an “it girl” was more important than family and friends.  Of course, hundreds of other things happened along the way, and that’s why it’s impossible to imagine the CW wouldn’t give Gossip Girl the royal send-off it so richly deserves.

So, what will the final season of Gossip Girl hold in store for those fans that have learned the difference between Baccarat and backgammon from the esteemed Blair Waldorf?   Surely there will be at least a half-dozen more lavish parties to attend, but, as we all know, on the Upper East Side, it’s all in the details.  It stands to reason the writers will finally end the ‘will they/won’t they’ drama of Blair, Chuck and Dan and no matter what, someone is going to end up disappointed.  For those of you looking out for Nate, predicting an affair with yet another older woman would be an easy target, so possibly the writers will throw us a curve ball, letting him finally find love in all the right places?  As for Serena, all best are off, but the thought she could be working on a personal memoir entitled "Love, Loss and What I Wore...On the Upper East Side" isn't that much of a long-shot.

The biggest question we should all be asking: Will the writers try to work in past characters for a last hurrah?  It’s a tried-and-true formula to boost ratings (and, let’s be honest, it serves well as a thank you to the fans) when long-gone cast members return.  Are you in the mood to see Eric, Vanessa or Jenny return to their old stomping grounds?  Perhaps a final run-around with Georgina?   Who do you think should come back to the show?  What story lines do you hope to see tied up in a perfectly sculpted Tiffany ribbon?

With just 11 episodes to look forward to next season, there’s nothing left to do but wait and see what the writers have in store.  If the last five years have been any indication, we’ll be given endless reasons to look back with fondness while reciting the phrase:

Gossip Girl: Sixth Season Means More Upper East Side Antics

Blair is in serious trouble in the season finale of Gossip Girl.  After Serena found her position as the gossip blogger usurped by the real Gossip Girl, the blogger decided to go on the offensive.  She started posting Blair's diary pages, which were found on Serena's laptop.

Yikes.  These pages have the ability to ruin a lot of Blair's relationships.  The first page explained that she still can't stop thinking about Chuck, so Blair has swiped Dan's cellphone so he doesn't find out about it, although she admits that it's only a temporary solution.  Angry at Serena for allowing this to happen, she decides to go on the defensive: gathering up all of her incriminating diaries.  With Dorota's help, she's going to make sure Gossip Girl doesn't have any more ammunition against her.

All of this hoopla will force Blair to confront her feelings about Chuck and Dan.  Will she spend the summer with Dan in Rome or remain behind in New York with Chuck?

Gossip Girl Season Finale Sneak Peek: Blair Does Serious Damage Control

I have to admit, my feeling is that the Gossip Girl finale could go either way at this point.  Blair has spent quite a few episodes with Dan now, working on their budding relationship.  She even blatantly chose him over Chuck.

And yet...

The truth is that Blair is obviously very hesitant to return Dan's love.  In the penultimate episode of Gossip Girl, Dan acknowledged that Blair refuses to say "I love you" back to him.  She even told Serena that she just can't say it yet, because the next time she tells a man she loves him, she wants it to be the last time.  Dan's clearly not feeling very secure in their relationship, despite Blair finally agreeing to accompany him to Italy for the summer.  Maybe he should feel worried, because it's clear that Blair simply can't escape Chuck.  She even sent Serena to impersonate her with Dan in order to stay behind and help Chuck with his recent family developments.

The season finale of Gossip Girl seems to be setting up a choice for Blair (watch a preview).  Is she finally ready to go back to Chuck and continue their relationship?  Now that they're both a little bit older and wiser, perhaps it won't be as volatile as it has been in the past.  Or will she stay with Dan?  Or will she - and we - face a cliffhanger ending?  Let us know what you think in the poll below.

Gossip Girl Poll: Will Blair Choose Chuck or Dan in the Season Finale?

After the shocking ending of last week's Gossip Girl (Bart Bass is sill alive!), Chuck began this episode by confronting his father about faking his death. It turns out that Bart was being threatened all those years ago by a business competitor who also happened to be very dangerous. After getting in the car accident he decided to fake his death in order to protect Chuck and Lily from retaliation by this competitor. After "dying", he turned to Diana for help in hiding. He also revealed that she helped him get into the country undetected in order to donate blood to save Chuck's life after his own car accident.

Chuck was happy about his father being alive, but was devastated when Bart insisted that he had to leave in order to remain safe. It sent Chuck on a quest to discover the identity of the man threatening his father, as well as find a way to keep Bart safe and in his life.  Through a series of twists and turns, Nate, Lola, Serena, Charlie and Blair were all recruited into the plan to bring down Mason Nevins, the man that Diana said had tried to kill Bart.  In the end, Blair, Bart and Chuck all realized that it was the PI, Andrew, who had tried to kill Bart after he himself had been threatened by Nevins.  Andrew was arrested and Bart agreed to stick around for Chuck.

Meanwhile, Blair convinced Dan to take the summer internship in Rome, although she seemed hesitant about joining him there.  Continuously leaving to help Chuck with his plans, Blair even went so far as to send Serena to impersonate her during an interview with Dan and an Italian man connected to the summer program.  Dan concluded that Blair didn't really love him and told Serena as much, although Serena tried to defend Blair's actions.

The season finale of Gossip Girl will be airing next week and Blair is forced to make a decision between the two men in her life: Chuck and Dan.  Who will she choose?

Gossip Girl Preview: Who Will Blair Choose in the Season Finale?

Last week's episode of Gossip Girl delivered up a shocker: Bart Bass is actually alive.  This week's penultimate episode will reveal more about Bart and what he's been doing since his supposed "death" several seasons ago.  For more on the penultimate episode, read Emma's preview.

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for the season finale states: "When Gossip Girl goes after Blair (Leighton Meester) as she’s never done before, Serena (Blake Lively) admits she may have unintentionally played an important role in Blair’s latest nightmare. Meanwhile, Nate (Chace Crawford) invites Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) to move in with him, and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) must make a big decision about the future of her marriage. Finally, by episode’s end, Blair will make a choice between the two men in her life…will it be Chuck (Ed Westwick) or will it be Dan (Penn Badgley)?"  As you can see from the photos, Chuck will definitely interact with his father and Georgina returns to New York.

Gossip Girl Photos: Blair Must Make a Choice in the Finale. Plus, Georgina Returns!

Gossip Girl ended last week with a pretty huge reveal that was pure soap opera; a character believed to be dead was anything but and tonight's episode deals with the aftermath of this huge news. Yep that's right Bart Bass (Robert John Burke) is very much alive and didn't die in the car crash way back in season 2 as we were led to believe. Chuck (Ed Westwick) is obviously the character who is most affected by this bombshell; will he turn to Blair for help again?

Tonight we will find out why Bart faked his death and hasn't been in contact with his son. As you can see from the producer's preview below the car crash was real but it was no accident and there was a real threat to Bart's life. It will be hard for Chuck to see beyond this deception and the years where he has struggled since his father's 'death.' Chuck really isn't the forgiving type so Bart will have to spin a major tale to get his son back on side. Also do you think they were always considering bring Bart back or does this have retcon written all over it?

One person who Chuck will be turning to for help is Blair (Leighton Meester) which could cause more hassle with Dan (Penn Badgley) who has been showing signs of jealousy as Blair has been spending time with her former love. Blair isn't the only person that Chuck will be calling upon as he will also have Lola (Ella Rae Peck) and Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) aiding this personal vendetta.

The sneak peek that we have below shows that Blair is annoyed at Dan for lying to her about turning down his place at the Italian Arts and Letters Institute in Rome. Dan originally told Blair that the place had been withdrawn when it was really Dan that decided against going. Dan tells Blair that he is concerned about her being in the city with Chuck and this could be the sign of bad things to come for this new couple. Blair vents to Serena (Blake Lively) about Dan's jealousy and despite being all about her own problems in this moment Blair also picks up on Serena's strange behaviour. Will Serena tell Blair about her big Gossip Girl secret? This is an important episode in terms of Serena and Blair's friendship and Serena poses as Blair when she needs to be in two places at once.

We will get to see the gang teaming up again (with the exception of Dan who is getting a second shot at the Rome trip) and it was rather fun last week to have this happen for the first time in what feels like an age. Nate (Chace Crawford) and Lola will be attempting to oust Diane from their lives using their knowledge of her high-class prostitute ring; will they be successful?

With just 2 episodes to go it looks like things will be heating up even more on the Upper East Side. Will Chuck forgive his father? Will Serena's secret be unveiled? Is there hope for Chuck and Blair?

Tonight on Gossip Girl: Chuck Learns the Truth (Sneak Peek)

The big scheme to find out the truth about Chuck's (Ed Westwick) father on Gossip Girl revealed a familiar face behind a door that Chuck believed to be impossible and is likely to have devastating results. Though Chuck and Blair (Leighton Meester) fans that were happy to see the pair scheming together will be excited to see that this will continue with next week's penultimate episode.

In this week's Gossip Girl the day planner that Nate (Chace Crawford) stole from Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) became the vital tool in the big scheme to find out exactly who Chuck's real parents are. The planner however was written in code and so Chuck calls upon the best schemer he knows; Blair. Meanwhile Lola (Ella Rae Peck) has finally convinced Nate that Serena (Blake Lively) is indeed the current incarnation of Gossip Girl. Lola and Nate start a side scheme with the real Gossip Girl to dethrone Serena to save her from what this role has made her become.

The episode is full of double crossing as Serena originally goes to the Empire to get the day planner back for Diana in exchange for Gossip Girl's phone number. The gang discover that Serena is lying to them but convince her that their team is the one that she should be working for.

Blair breaks the code and they discover that Diana is some kind of madam in a high class hooker ring and Nate wants to use this information to get Diana out of The Spectator for good. Unfortunately for Nate, Diana has him on the security cameras at this fancy brothel so she uses this against him. Nate's other plan of the night is more successful as he leads the real Gossip Girl to the laptop that Serena has been using and Serena is no longer Gossip Girl.

The huge surprise of the night at the brothel is not that Jack (Desmond Harrington) is Chuck's father but that Chuck's father Bart Bass (Robert John Burke) is not dead like we all thought since season 2; he is very much alive and standing. Blair was the one to first see that this was the case and even though she couldn't bring herself to tell Chuck she encouraged Chuck to go back into the building to see for himself.

Meanwhile Dan (Penn Badgley) was offered a dream place for the summer at the Italian Arts and Letters Institute in Rome on their summer artist retreat. Dan turned down the place after he was disappointed that Blair was more than happy for him to accept. This decision was in part fuelled by concern (and jealousy) that Blair was helping Chuck with a scheme. Dan lied to Blair and told him that it was the Institute that had withdrawn the position. Dan took the big step and told Blair that he loves her; sadly she did not utter those three important words back. Is this relationship doomed?

In the upcoming penultimate episode airing May 7, Blair enlists Serena to stand in for her at an important meeting when she needs to be at two separate locations at the same time. Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) is back and will team up with Lola to help Chuck with a personal vendetta; will he target his father for the years of lies? Nate has a decision to make about his future with Diana.

Gossip Girl Preview: Blair Helps Chuck After The Big Bombshell

This season of Gossip Girl has felt a bit fractured in the sense that quite often we don't get to see the whole group interacting with each other, even when they are attending the same events. Tonight will bring the group back together as a major scheme needs all hands on deck to find out the truth about who Chuck's (Ed Westwick) parents really are and what part Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) plays in this big secret. The only person who isn't involved is Dan (Penn Badgley) who is less than thrilled at becoming Lonely Boy again.

Last week saw Blair (Leighton Meester) dipping her toe back in the scheming pool and doing a less than stellar job as she feared that her status was on the wane. Instead she embarrassed both herself and Dan in public but the two still remain together. This week's scheme is more Blair's style as Chuck realizes that she will be the perfect person to crack the code in Diana's day planner or as Nate (Chace Crawford) puts it they need someone with a "special level of crazy" to break it. They also need to get to Jack (Desmond Harrington) in order to find out the truth about whether he is Chuck's real father. The plan is to pretend that they still believe that Diana is Chuck's mother; something we now know and they know is not the case. This is definitely a massive and sticky web of lies.

Also joining the team is Serena (Blake Lively) who could use her position as Gossip Girl to help with the plan; Diana and Lola (Ella Rae Peck) are the only people to know about Serena's Gossip Girl status which could be used to their advantage. Lola (or 'Serena Light') is also now in possession of the Gossip Girl password so will she use this in this scheme? As already mentioned Dan is not taking part in this elaborate plan but he will receive an exciting offer to travel to Rome for a prestigious fellowship in the summer; will he decide to take this opportunity?

Tonight on Gossip Girl: The Gang Who Schemes Together Stays Together (Sneak Peek)

Gossip Girl fans who ship Chuck and Blair may have something to look forward to as season 5 comes to a close.   We know in the upcoming April 30 episode that Dan gets offered a prestigious internship abroad for the summer and we're wondering whether that could impact his budding relationship with Blair.

Now The CW has released spoilers for the season finale of Gossip Girl, titled "Return of the Ring".  Blair will be targeted by Gossip Girl herself, far worse than she's ever been targeted before, and Serena has to admit that she may have played a role in Blair's current situation.  But Blair's relationship troubles also heat up.  The network says that "Blair will make a choice between the two men in her life…will it be Chuck or will it be Dan?"  Place your bets on which boy Blair will choose.

Lily is also torn...not between two men, but she has to decide the future of her marriage in this episode.  Nate, meanwhile, grows closer to Lola and invites her to move in with him.

Gossip Girl Teaser: Is There Hope for Chuck and Blair?

Gossip Girl is throwing Chuck and Blair together again.  But hold on to your horses, shippers, because the former couple is only reuniting to scheme. Although, we have to admit we love seeing them scheme together.

In this week's Gossip Girl, Lola discovered that she's Serena's half sister and Lily set up Carol to be arrested for fraud.  Nate also went digging into Diana's past, convinced there was something suspicious about her.  As it turns out, he may have been right.  Nate seems convinced that Elizabeth is actually Chuck's mother.  But the identity of Chuck's mother isn't as important as the identity of his father, particularly since Chuck now believes that Jack is actually his father, not his uncle.  For more on the episode, read our recap.

In the upcoming April 30 episode, Nate and Chuck seem determined to learn the truth about Diana's secrets, believing they'll lead them to the truth about Jack.  How do you take down a schemer?  You find an even bigger schemer!  Naturally, Blair is recruited to lead the team, consisting of Chuck, Nate, Serena and Lola.  Will they learn Diana's secret?  We sure hope so!

Gossip Girl Preview: Chuck and Blair Team Up...But Who Are They Plotting Against?

Gossip Girl chose not to drag out a few key plot points concerning the Rhodes and van der Woodsen families.  First up was Ivy.  The case over CeCe's will went to court and, while we didn't get to see any of the proceedings, we did find out that Ivy's inheritance was revoked and the Rhodes estate is to be divided equally between Lily and Carol.  But to put up a good front, Lily invited her family to her penthouse for a public dinner in order to repair the family image.

The "other" Charlie Rhodes also had an important part to play when William van der Woodsen met with her to tell her that he's her father.  Instead of keeping Carol's secret and allowing himself to be blackmailed, William decided to come right out with the truth, but, at Lola's request, he agreed to keep it quiet from the rest of the family.  Unfortunately, Serena found out the big news secondhand through Nate.

Serena immediately ran to tell Lily the news, who took it quite calmly.  She admitted that William had cheated on her many times during their marriage and suggested they keep this news quiet until after the dinner with the reporter.

But it seems that Lily had a few tricks up her sleeve, calling up Ivy to propose a partnership.  When the dinner started, Lily spilled the beans about Lola's paternity and Carol's plans in front of the reporter.  Everyone was furious that the truth had come out, but none more so than Carol.  However, the paternity bombshell wasn't the only one revealed during dinner.  It turns out that Lily convinced Ivy to confess her fraud to the police in exchange for immunity so that Carol could be arrested.  The price for Ivy's confession?  $1 million.  And while Ivy insisted that she just wanted to be part of the family, Lily bade her goodbye.  But then there's the twist: Ivy ripped up the check and is determined to stay in New York to earn her way back into the family.  To be honest, the whole thing was rather delicious.

Of course, Lola insisted that she was also getting hurt by Lily's vengeance against Carol and Serena lashed out against her father, jealous of his new daughter.  Despite William's apology, Serena was upset that he had barely acted like a father to her for her entire life, but seemed eager to protect Lola as soon as he learned she was his daughter.  When Rufus found out what Lily had done during the dinner, he confronted her, telling her that he didn't want anything to do with her if this is who she wanted to be.  When she asked "where else will you find an Upper East Side woman to take care of you like I have?" he thanked her for making his decision to separate a lot easier.

Carol's troubles still weren't over: William convinced her to give him power of attorney, promising to take care of Lola.  Only he called up Lily, saying that he would sign over Carol's half of the estate to her.  But Lily's vagueness about taking care of Lola convinced William to leave town with the money.

In the less delicious storylines in this week's Gossip Girl was Blair's anger over her decreasing social status, which led her to try and steal the spotlight at an awards ceremony for Dan.  Finally, Nate seemed very interested in learning more about Diana in order to buy out her share of the Spectator.  He discovered that she was being bankrolled by Jack Bass.  After an investigation by his PI, Nate actually seemed convinced that Elizabeth was really Chuck's mother while Diana was a fraud.  He told Chuck as much, but Chuck realized that the connection between Diana and Elizabeth was Jack.  And when he recognized the tattoo on the arm of a man in a photo with Elizabeth Chuck wondered if Jack is really his father.  Another Gossip Girl, another question about Chuck's family history.

Gossip Girl Recap: The van der Woodsen Family Drama Continues. Plus, Chuck Gets Another Shock!

Gossip Girl is often about grand schemes and manipulations and Blair (Leighton Meester) was once the master of this area. Recently Blair has had more on her mind including royal weddings and royal divorce; will tonight see Blair returning to these old ways? Blair is not the only one who needs to resolve an issue as Lily (Kelly Rutherford) is still trying to protect the reputation of her family and Nate (Chace Crawford) is intrigued as to where Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) gets her money from.

In the producers preview (which you can view below) we are promised 'vintage Blair' thanks to something that is written about her in a magazine. Blair normally delights in reading these magazines and says "I love reading bad things about my friends, it's the only thing that makes me feel better about myself." Tonight she will be on the wrong end of this and it would seem that Blair feels like her Upper East Side status might be slipping away from her, so she devises a plan to make sure this doesn't happen. It is unclear as to what role (if any) that Dan will play in this scheme or whether it will damage their relationship which survived their not so successful 'coming out' party.

The gathering of the week is courtesy of Lily who is concerned that this money squabble with Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) is going to ruin the family reputation. This would be a worry if this family hadn't already had enough scandal to fill tabloids for the last five seasons. For some reason Lily thinks that hosting a shindig with William (Billy Baldwin), Carol (Sheila Kelly) and Lola (Ella Rae Peck) is a good idea, but it is likely to do more damage than good.

Last week Lola declared that she was done with this whole Upper East Side 'It Girl' lifestyle so expect her to be rather hostile, especially around Serena (Blake Lively). Lola did keep Serena's big Gossip Girl secret but that wasn't before she inadvertently streamed Diana telling Serena that she was Chuck's (Ed Westwick) real mother, awkward moment all round. Lola didn't really owe anything to Serena considering how Serena had been portraying Lola on Gossip Girl, but she decided to protect her cousin because (fuzzy logic ahoy) she doesn't want to hurt Nate. What could be causing the press to be swarming around Serena and her mother in the promo photo above?

One person who appears to be missing in all this drama is Rufus (Matthew Settle) who has finally become more than just an Upper East Side husband again as he stood up to Lily over the whole Ivy debacle. The pair almost made up last week until Lily found out that Rufus has been paying Ivy's hotel bill; is there a chance that they will work through their differences or is Rufus destined to stay in Brooklyn?

The Diana story is a focus this week as Nate attempts to find out where Diana gets her money from, though he might end up back in bed with her in the process. Of course this is now super strange as Nate knows that he has slept with Chuck's mother in the past, but their friendship has survived way worse than this. When Nate goes digging he discovers something that surprises him, what could this be?

Tonight on Gossip Girl: Blair is Back to Scheming

If you missed this week's episode of Gossip Girl, then you missed the big reveal of Chuck's mother (read more).  It turns out that Diana Payne (guest star Elizabeth Hurley) had an affair with Bart Bass many moons ago, which produced Chuck.  Chuck is, of course, reeling from the news that his mother looks to be about the same age as he is (and sleeping with his best friend - gross!).

In the upcoming April 30 episode, titled "Raiders of the Lost Art", it seems that the Upper East Siders won't tolerate any more lies.  They even recruit Serena's cousin into their plan.  Chuck, Nate, Serena, Blair and Lola all team up to uncover the secret that Diana and Jack are hiding.  After all, Gossip Girl herself told Diana that the secret of Chuck's mother wasn't the only one she had on the British bombshell.  Meanwhile, Dan is offered the opportunity of a lifetime when he is awarded a very prestigious fellowship in Rome for the summer.  Uh-oh.  Will a summer away from each other threaten Blair and Dan's burgeoning relationship?

Gossip Girl 5.22 Photos: The Gang Teams Up to Uncover Diana and Jack's Secret

Gossip Girl delivered up a plot twist in this week's episode, although rumblings on the internet indicate that some fans predicted the outcome.  Chuck has been searching for his mother after learning that his uncle didn't give the blood to save his life after his car accident.  But his private investigator revealed that the woman he believed to be his mother - Elizabeth - wasn't in New York around the time of his accident.

All of Chuck's searching has proven fruitless, but it only took Serena an episode to figure out the truth: Diana Payne (guest star Elizabeth Hurley) is actually Chuck's mother!  Apparently, the original Gossip Girl knew the truth about Chuck's maternity and had used the secret to blackmail Diana.  After Serena refused to give Gossip Girl the new password to her site, GG turned to Diana, demanding that she make Serena give up the gossip throne.

Naturally, Serena was slightly freaked out that someone knew the truth about her secret side job, so she decided to do a little digging on Diana.  After overhearing Diana mention being at the hospital after Chuck's accident, she approached a nurse with Diana's photo.  Later, she confronted Diana at Blair and Dan's coming out party.  But Lola had been suspicious about Serena's side job for most of the episode and she decided to live stream the private conversation between Diana and Serena, at the end of which Diana did confess that she was Chuck's mother.

Chuck was understandably upset when he learned the truth, considering Diana had kept this news from him (as well as "banging [his] best friend").  After storming off, Lola confronted Serena about being Gossip Girl, but agreed to keep her cousin's secret.  She has, however, lost Nate, or so it would seem.  He couldn't forgive her for airing Chuck's family secrets online.

At the end of the episode, Diana went to visit Chuck, who agreed to speak to her.  She said that she had had an affair with Bart Bass and couldn't resist him. After Chuck was born, she admitted she was unfit to raise a child, so she gave him to Bart and Elizabeth to raise.  A few years later, after Elizabeth's "death", she returned, but she and Bart decided not to bring her into their son's life.  Diana claimed that she did want to see Chuck and has spent this time watching over Chuck from afar.  In the end, Diana left the choice about whether they'll be a family up to Chuck.

As an added surprise, Diana got one last text message from Gossip Girl at the end of the episode.  It ominously said "we both know [Chuck's true maternity was] not the secret I was talking about".

Gossip Girl: Diana's Big Secret is Revealed! She is [Spoiler]

Blair and Dan will be making their big come-out as a couple in this week's all new episode of Gossip Girl (watch sneak peeks), but in the upcoming April 23 episode, titled "Despicable B", Blair is slightly concerned that her Upper East Side status might be slipping away.  Perhaps because she gave up her princess title and is dating a boy from Brooklyn?  Of course, Blair won't stand for this, so she takes steps to ensure it doesn't happen.

Meanwhile, Lily decides to throw a big family gathering, with William (guest star Billy Baldwin), Carol (guest star Sheila Kelly) and Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) all in attendance in addition to her immediate family.  Lily's plan is to show New York society that the Rhodes/van der Woodsen family is as tight as ever.

Finally, Nate gets sick of being in the dark and goes digging into Diana's (guest star Elizabeth Hurley) past.  We know that she has a secret she's desperate to keep, but Nate is shocked by what he discovers about her.  New York Social Diary’s David Patrick Columbia appears in the episode as himself.

Gossip Girl Photos: Blair Tries to Hang On To Her Status and Lily Gathers Her Family

Blair (Leighton Meester) and Dan (Penn Badgley) have been a couple for a few weeks on Gossip Girl and now that Blair has her divorce papers they can step out as an official item. Not to be one to go all bashful Blair of course wants to announce this in a big way and this becomes the setting for the weekly Gossip Girl event, an event that will see some drama of course.

Blair is free from her royal shackles (that didn't actually seem that bad as she's been swanning around New York since the wedding) and so this 'coming out' event begins as an exercise in revelling in Blair's freedom. As you can see from the sneak peek below, Blair is essentially making plans that are perfect for her without taking into account any of Dan's tastes. Luckily Dan has a backbone and mentions his dissatisfaction with Blair's plans and a compromise is reached. Dan and Blair do share tastes, tastes that cemented their friendship that evolved into this romance and so they decide to have a British-themed Salon. "Salon of the Dead" features an appearance from Julian Tepper and Jenna Gribbon who are the founders of The Oracle Club; a members-only workspace for artists that is inspired by surrealist literary salons.

Blair and Dan appear to be a good place at the moment after overcoming some early bumps in their relationship, but there will be plenty of fireworks elsewhere tonight. Serena (Blake Lively) continues her role as Gossip Girl and the unpleasant behavior that she subjected Lola (Ella Rae Peck) to last week continues. Serena decided to make Lola the new 'It Girl' of the Upper East Side, but when it looked like this plan was working Serena's envy got the better of her and instead she decided to humiliate her cousin. Lola gets the audition of a lifetime tonight but will Gossip Girl/Serena destroy her chances?

Lola is of course less than happy with how she is being treated by Gossip Girl and turns to Nate (Chace Crawford) as she wants to find out who Gossip Girl really is. Lola is pretty smart in the world of this show it would seem as she believes that this current Gossip Girl is not the original; will she discover Serena's big dark secret?

Lola is closer to the truth than she expects but it is Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) that Serena should be concerned with. Diane also has secrets that are somehow about Chuck (Ed Westwick). Chuck of course found out for certain that the woman, who was masquerading as his mother, really isn't his mother at all; so who was the person who saved his life? Serena and Diana are going to face-off over secrets they both want to remain that way but will either be able to keep their word?

One relationship that is floundering is between Rufus (Matthew Settle) and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) who continue to disagree about the whole Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) situation, with Rufus remaining in Brooklyn. Will this couple be able to resolve this conflict?

Tonight on Gossip Girl: Dan and Blair Go Public (Sneak Peek)

There's a slightly crazy - but possibly true - Gossip Girl theory floating around right now.  You probably shouldn't read any further if you don't want to hear about it.

If you do want to hear about it, here it is: Diana is actually Chuck's mother.  Well, we know a few things for sure: Elizabeth is definitely not Chuck's mother.  Despite Chuck believing that Elizabeth had donated blood after his car accident, his PI learned that she couldn't possibly have done it.  So who did?

Well, photos from the upcoming April 16 episode of Gossip Girl, titled "Salon of the Dead", put Diana and Chuck in the same room, brooding at each other.  Is the theory true?  Consider this: the synopsis for the episode says that "Serena (Blake Lively) and Diana (Hurley) face-off over secrets they both would prefer remain secrets."  Could Diana discover that Serena is Gossip Girl, while Serena discovers that Diana is Chuck's mother?  Maybe I'm wildly speculating here, but it would definitely be a fun twist, although also slightly gross since Nate would have slept with Chuck's mother.

Other big events for this upcoming episode include Dan and Blair's official coming out party as a couple, as well as Lily and Rufus' continued fight over how to handle the Ivy situation.

Gossip Girl Photos: What Does Diana Want With Chuck?

Diana Payne (guest star Elizabeth Hurley) returned to Gossip Girl this week with the mission of taking back The Spectator from Nate.  Upset about the paper's decline and still an important investor, Diana wanted to demote Nate from the editor position and turn The Spectator back into a force to be reckoned with.  But when Diana pulled out all the stops to get close to Nate, he assumed that she returned to New York for him.

Of course, Lola appeared to be jealous of Diana's return when she learned that she and Nate used to be in a relationship.  Serena decided to use this opportunity to turn Lola into the new It-Girl so that she could finally step out of the spotlight.  Gossip Girl kept pushing for the site's new password, but Serena wanted to get Lola crowned before she gave up the position as the Upper East Side's top blogger.  In the end, Serena was upset that Lola and Nate were in cahoots to frame Diana together.  Unfortunately, Nate severely underestimated Diana and was unable to use the information to force her out.  But in the end, she proposed a truce.

Blair also got her divorce papers, signed by Louis.  But she was in for a shock when she learned - via Dan - that Chuck had actually payed her dowry, thereby getting her the divorce without a fuss from the Grimaldi family.  Instead of seeing it as a gift, Blair accused Chuck of trying to buy her back, until she finally came to the realization that he had done her a favor.

Rufus also came up with a plan to get back Lily's penthouse and send Ivy on her way with the rest of CeCe's inheritance.  While Lily originally agreed to the plan, she actually ended up trying to screw Ivy over.  Now Ivy is out of the apartment and Lily wants to find a way to make sure she doesn't get back in.

In the April 16 episode of Gossip Girl, Blair and Dan decide to throw a party to celebrate their official coming out as a couple.  Lola lands an amazing audition, but Gossip Girl seems to have her own plans for the newest addition to the Rhodes family.  Meanwhile, Serena and Diana both face off over secrets that they're both hiding, while Lily and Rufus argue over how to handle Ivy.

Gossip Girl 5.20 Preview: Serena and Diana Face Off

Scheming and manipulation are two elements that you can always guarantee to find on Gossip Girl; Elizabeth Hurley returns tonight as Diana Payne to use both of these methods to snatch back The Spectator from Nate (Chace Crawford). Serena (Blake Lively) is also trying to figure out how to balance her regular life with her new role as Gossip Girl and it looks like Lola (Ella Rae Peck) might be the person to help. Chuck (Ed Westwick) is looking to his past after discovering that it wasn't Jack (Desmond Harrington) that saved his life after the car accident; will he find the truth?

Diana is a confident woman who has used her sexuality in the past to manipulate a situation to get what she wants and as you can see in the producers preview Diana knows that sex sells. To show that Diana is back in town she is co-hosting the "Down to Your Skivvies" Kiki de Montparnasse lingerie show and thus begins her power struggle with Nate for The Spectator. Nate of course is dating Lola and so the return of Diana is sure to create friction here, even though Lola insists that she doesn't want to compete with Nate's former flame. 

Serena has different ideas for Lola as she wants her cousin to take Serena's 'It Girl' status and that begins with taking part in this lingerie show. Serena wants out of the spotlight as she doesn't want to write about herself now that she has started posting on Gossip Girl. It seems somewhat unfair and selfish of Serena to choose her reluctant cousin and this is unlikely to end well. Serena clearly has not yielded to the message that the real Gossip Girl sent her last week, how long will it be before she hears from her again? Diana has previously wanted to take down Gossip Girl, so is her return to town linked to this desire to challenge Gossip Girl all over again?

There is still the Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) issue, as even though all of her assets are now frozen Ivy still remains in Lily's (Kelly Rutherford) apartment. Lily is not coping well in the apartment in Brooklyn and with the situation in general and despite Rufus' (Matthew Settle) efforts it looks like this will cause tension between the couple. Anyone else feeling like Lily is being a tad stuck up about her new living arrangements?

Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair had some minor hiccups in their relationship last week that was solved with alcohol and an elevator, but this week the pair looks like they might have bigger issues as Blair starts to act suspiciously. This sneak peek suggests that Blair is hiding something from Dan and it could be related to Chuck. Chuck has a private investigator tracking down his mother as it appears she saved his life and he reaches out to Blair when he discovers something. Should this concern Dan and Blair fans or is this just Blair helping out Chuck in his time of need?

Tonight on Gossip Girl: Elizabeth Hurley Returns

Elizabeth Hurley is returning as Diana Payne on the upcoming April 9 episode of Gossip Girl.  Now that Diana (guest star Elizabeth Hurley) is back in town, Nate is immediately on guard, because she seems to be gunning for his position at The Spectator.  Her first plan is to throw a sexy lingerie party in conjunction with lingerie house Kiki de Montparnasse.

Diana's return also factors into Serena's plans.  She wants to continue acting as Gossip Girl, but doesn't want to be forced to write about herself.  So she decides that the best thing to do is step down from her position in New York society and get a new "It Girl" crowned.  Her target is her cousin Lola.  Using Diana's attraction to Nate as a starting point (and to encourage jealousy), Serena encourages her cousin to model at the Kiki show and make a splash on the Upper East Side.

Meanwhile, Chuck has decided to search for his mother again after learning that she actually helped save his life with a blood transfusion after his car accident.  While digging through his past, he'll reach out to Blair for advice.  Will this cause friction between Dan and Blair?  Whether it does or not, Dan does seem to think Blair is acting suspicious in this sneak peek.

Gossip Girl Photos: Is Lola Jealous of Diana? Plus, Chuck Reaches Out to Blair & Serena Schemes

Were Dair fans happy with Gossip Girl's return this week?  Dan and Blair are finally together and although some snags got in the way of them...ahem...consummating their relationship, they finally got their groove on by the end of the episode.

But is there trouble brewing in Dair paradise already?  In the upcoming April 9 episode of Gossip Girl, Blair seems to be acting kind of suspiciously around Dan.  And he definitely notices.  Her excuses of her royal marriage/divorce and not wanting to throw their relationship in Serena's face is only going so far when she bows out of any plans he suggests.  So Dan has to get creative and turns to Dorota in hopes of figuring out why Blair is being so cagey lately.  Could it have something to do with the fact that Chuck reaches out to Blair for "advice about his part", which we're going to assume has something to do with his mother?  We'll definitely have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Hurley will be returning as Diana Payne next week and there's going to be a power struggle between her and Nate over the future of The Spectator.  Throw Lola into the mix - as a jealous girlfriend for Nate? - and we sense trouble brewing.

Gossip Girl Sneak Peek: Is Blair Hiding Something from Dan?

A lot of Gossip Girl characters had problems to overcome in this week's episode.  First up was Lily, who wanted to get her mother’s estate back from Ivy. Her first plan involved finding something in Ivy’s past to get her disinherited, but that didn’t work out very well. So William went to visit Ivy and offered his assistance: he would get her a place in New York society for a piece of the inheritance. Serena, unfortunately, blew the plan with a Gossip Girl blast, so Ivy didn’t go through with the “bribe”, but Lola stepped up and admitted that she had witnessed Ivy’s promise to pay William, so Lily has her niece in her corner now.

Blair and Dan, meanwhile, kept getting interrupted while trying to have sex. When they were finally able to do the deed, the whole experience proved horrible. Fortunately for them, they found a way to have exciting sex: in semi-public places, like the elevator on the way up to Ivy’s party.

Nate’s paper, The Spectator, is experiencing serious financial difficulties and he’s trying to find investors to keep it afloat. But when Serena’s blunder caused him to lose an investor, he fired her. Meanwhile, Serena accepted Georgina’s gift of the laptop and decided to become the new Gossip Girl. At least until the real Gossip Girl asked for the password so she could take back her blog.

Elizabeth Hurley returns as Diana Payne in the upcoming April 9 episode of Gossip Girl and engages in a power struggle with Nate over the fate of The Spectator. Serena decides to step down as the “It Girl” and taps Lola to take her place, which involves getting her cousin a modeling gig at a Kiki de Montparnasse lingerie show.

Gossip Girl Preview: Elizabeth Hurley Returns and Serena Has a Plan for Lola

After a month away from our screens, Gossip Girl returns tonight with more scheming, backstabbing, attempted hook-ups and secrets. We will see the return of dastardly Jack Bass (Desmond Harrington) who appears to have done a good deed for Chuck (Ed Westwick), but is all as it seems? Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair (Leighton Meester) attempt to take their relationship to the next physical level and encounter a number of obstacles along the way, and Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) finds an ally in William (Billy Baldwin). Here is a catch up to see where we left the characters a month ago and what tonight's episode has in store.

Serena: Serena (Blake Lively) hasn't had the best time recently after she declared her love for former boyfriend Dan at Blair's wedding. Not only does Dan not reciprocate these feelings but instead he is attracted to Serena's best friend Blair. It also turns out, despite Blair originally protesting otherwise she also has feelings for Dan. While Serena is upset about this, she has also given Blair her blessing to pursue this relationship.

Family-wise, things are also messed up after her grandmother CeCe (Caroline Lagerfelt) died and left most of her vast fortune to Serena's fake cousin Charlie/Ivy. Serena was not happy about Ivy before this news and she sure wasn't happy after. With Ivy seeking help from Serena's father, you can be sure that these two won't be shopping buddies any time soon.

Serena does, however, want to connect with her real cousin (or half-sister) Lola (Ella Rae Peck) who was not all that taken with the world of her extended family. Can Serena convince Lola that she does want to become the next It Girl? Serena might have a new job beyond a blog at The Spectator as Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) sent the Gossip Girl laptop to Serena with instructions to become the new Gossip Girl; will Serena go through with this?

Dan, Blair and Chuck: In a move that made equal amounts of the audience cheer and throw things at their screens, the last episode ended with Blair going to Dan and choosing him with a kiss. This is after Blair had told Chuck that even though she loves Chuck, at the moment she is not 'in love' with him. Blair has changed her mind rather a lot this season when it comes to which man she has feelings for, and even though Blair and Chuck have been the epic love story of the show, it will be interesting to see where Dan and Blair will go and whether this relationship will have romantic longevity. Tonight the world seems to be conspiring against Dan and Blair, as this pairing continues in screwball comedy fashion, this time in the bedroom department (watch a sneak peek).

Chuck is not happy about Blair and Dan as the new Gossip Girl couple, but he might be distracted thanks to Lily revealing that his uncle Jack Bass could be responsible for Chuck still being alive. Lily told Chuck that, thanks to massive blood loss and Chuck's body rejecting one transfusion, he needed a family member to donate blood and Lily gave the hospital Jack's number. In this sneak peek, Jack seems confused as to why Chuck is so pleased with him.  Could there be more to this story? Remember Jack rang Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley) on the night of Chuck's accident?  What could Diana have to do with all of this?

If you're wondering what the status of Blair's marriage is now...that lays in the hands of Georgina Spark, who will be using all the dirt she has gathered since becoming Gossip Girl to get Blair out of that loveless marriage.

Rufus and Lily: Rufus (Matthew Settle) and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) were kicked out of their apartment after Ivy inherited it from CeCe. This, unsurprisingly, has ruffled some feathers, and Lily is determined to find a way to strip Ivy of all the new assets that she has gained from the will. Lily's method is to find some illegal activity in Ivy's past, but will this be as easy as it sounds considering Ivy has been pretending to be someone else for so long? Lily is also not going to be too happy with her sister Carol (Shelia Kelley) when she finds out that Carol was having an affair with her husband William and William also happens to be the father of Carol's child, Lola.

Ivy and Lola: Despite the fact that Ivy has been impersonating Lola, Lola's sympathy lies with Ivy's rather than her family, who "lie to each other and argue about money." The "lying to each other" part is most definitely true...especially considering who her father actually is. When this secret is finally revealed, will this bring Lola closer to her family or push her further away? Ivy is turning to William (guest star Billy Baldwin) for advice on how to be accepted into the Upper East Side society now that her real identity has been revealed.  This being Gossip Girl, he suggests a lavish party.

Nate: Nate (Chace Crawford) is still dating Lola and is still editor atThe Spectator, both of which appear to be going OK before the break. Yes, Nate is part of this lavish world that Lola wants to reject, but it probably helps that he is cute too. When we return, both of these things will be on shaky ground, as Nate needs new investors for The Spectator to stay afloat and a former flame could be both a savior and a problem.
