Hart of Dixie: Laura Bell Bundy to Guest Star in Season 2

hart of dixieThe Bell is coming to BlueBell, y’all.

The Huffington Post is reporting that Broadway actress and country singer Laura Bell Bundy will be guest starring on Hart of Dixie next season. Set to appear in at least two episodes, Bundy will be playing a potential love interest for George Tucker (Scott Porter) named Shelby, though it’s not been revealed how the two meet. Her first appearance will be in the third episode of the season.

Bundy won’t be the first country musician to make a stop by BlueBell, but she’ll be the first to be integrated into the show as a character. American Idol winner Scotty McCreery made an appearance in a late season episode last spring, performing a song in a club that George and Zoe went to on their trip out of town. Ironically, McCreery’s episode brought the two together and Bundy’s appearance will pull them back apart, as George’s confession of his feelings for the good doctor might have been too little too late.

Most known for her role as the original Elle Woods in the Broadway production of Legally Blonde, Bundy has appeared on the likes of How I Met Your Mother, The Guiding Light, and Home Improvement. Previously announced guest stars for the next season of Hart of Dixie include Golden Brooks (Girlfriends) and Charlie Robinson (Night Court). Guest stars from the first season included Gary Cole as Dr. Hart’s father, Justin Hartley as Wade’s estranged brother, and Nadine Velazquez as Lavon’s former flam Didi.

The second season of Hart of Dixie premieres Tuesday, October 2nd at 8:00, with Emily Owens, M.D. to follow on the 16th at 9:00. You can check out the rest of the network’s fall premiere dates, all clustered in October, here.

Will you be watching Hart of Dixie this season? Would you like to see George have a rebound after the ordeals with Lemon and Dr. Hart? What other actors do you think would make a great fit for Hart of Dixie?
