Hart of Dixie: Travis Van Winkle to Play Lemon’s Cousin

Travis Van Winkle hart of dixieRuby Jeffries isn’t the only former BlueBell resident finding an itch to come back home.

According to TVLine, we’ll have another return in the form of Jonah Breeland, Lemon’s cousin who is beloved by the town and will be played by Travis Van Winkle (Transformers). The latest addition to Hart of Dixie will also be threatening Zoe’s relationship with the townspeople of BlueBell, which has obviously never been that great to begin with but has grown more stable recently.

There’s no word yet on what exactly Jonah is doing in BlueBell or how long he’ll stay in town, however. Van Winkle is set to recur on the show, so the time in Alabama won’t be too extensive; considering that his arrival will have an impact on Zoe, there’s a chance that he could be, for example, a doctor who had previously worked with Brick. Harley and Brick worked alongside one another for years, but Jonah could have assisted both men, learned the tricks of the trade/built relationships with the townsfolk, and opened up a practice for himself away from BlueBell. If he’s back in BlueBell, the patients that Dr. Hart worked hard to win over may want to switch over to Jonah, leaving Zoe with a diminished professional reputation and an even smaller bank account.

In addition to his role in the 2007 blockbuster from Michael Bay, Van Winkle has appeared on the likes of 90210, Happy Endings, and 2 Broke Girls. His next television project, minus Hart of Dixie, will be the pilot for The Last Ship, a TNT drama centering on a naval destroyer crew facing a decimated world following a pandemic. The show also stars Rhona Mitra, Adam Baldwin, and Eric Dane.

Hart of Dixie airs Tuesdays at 8:00 on The CW. You can check out a recap of last night’s episode here.

What effect do you think Jonah coming home (temporarily) will have? Will this help or hurt Lemon’s personal growth that has been a highlight of the season? Why do you think so many people leave BlueBell?
