Heroes Expected to End with Season 4We’ve all been thinking it, but now someone’s said it: season four of Heroes is allegedly going to be the last. That’s what E!Online is reporting, thanks to their ‘well-placed Heroes source.’

“Everyone is expecting this to be the last season. The cast, the crew, everyone,” the mole said, and that’s not surprising at all. After a stellar season one, the show has been in a creative slump: season two was almost universally panned, and season three wasn’t much better. Season four has shown an increase in quality, but is still not the amazing show we expected after season one.

This news comes after it was announced that Sendhil Ramamurthy, who portrays character Mohinder Suresh, had been cast on a new pilot for NBC, titled Rex is Not Your Lawyer. Though Mohinder has been scarcely seen on Heroes this season, this likely means that Ramamurthy will be written off the show — or, as E! thinks, the show itself will be written off.

Heroes Expected to End with Season 4While I have seen every episode of Heroes thus far, I think it is probably the best time for the show to end. It seems fitting for the series to end on a volume titled “Redemption,” because the show has indeed redeemed itself this season, if only slightly. The death of Nathan’s consciousness in “The Fifth Stage” was the biggest step in creative change the show has taken, and if it continues to crescendo, we could be looking at one very big and very good season finale.

It needs to go out on the highest point it can, so that it won’t be remembered as a show that just fizzled out. In retrospect, I think it would have been much better if the series just ended after the first season — people would have been talking about how great the show was for years.

But bygones are bygones, and it certainly looks like Heroes will be a bygone come May 2010. What do you think? Is it time for the show to end, or should it stick around a few more seasons? Can NBC bring itself to cancel one of its only sci-fi series? Leave your comments in the section below — we want to hear from you!

I think that one of the biggest mistake the writers did was killing Nathan. That i would not forgive them  it. Also, the show can not be end like this. Nope i don’t think so. Syler needs to be killed first, they need to come with a weakness for him, then the show can be end.

The biggest mistake the writers ever did was keeping Sylar alive.  This set of a chain reaction of plot holes.  If Sylar died in Season 1 or 2, the show could have flown away as a butterfly; instead, the show was stuck in a cacoon.

I think heroes can continue, I personally think it has a better chance of staying on for another season than most people give it credit for. It’s funny this year all the complaints about this season I’ve read reveal that most of the people who are still complaining about the show obviously haven’t watched it: All I’ve heard is complaints about how the story doesn’t make sense (Other than some mystery with the carnival it’s as simple as a standard super hero movie) that this season plot is entirely based on time travel (It is to an extent but as compared to other seasons, it has the second least amount of time travel, the first being fugitives) that main characters never die(Nathan died, with another rumored to be coming up). It’s like its become trendy to say that heroes sucks. I don’t have any problems with this opinion of course, I just wish the people who said it actually watched the show (I’ve talked to only one person who actually disliked it for valid reasons). I’ve noticed that if I compare the plot of the series as a whole, it actually isn’t nearly as bad as when you take each season separately. Anyways, if Heroes ends now it will hopefully become a cult phenomenon like Star Trek, and then fifteen years or so we will either get Heroes: The next generation or a series of movies(The last seems more likely to me.). It would be awesome to see all the characters a little older and wiser combating some kind of menace. Anyways, you can be sure I’ll be going to the conventions J.

As much as Sylar isn’t doing the story any good, Zachary Quinto is the single best actor on the show, with perhaps the exception of Knepper. He brings the perfect amount of cheesiness to such a dark role.

I agree. There are too many things happenning this season to end with season four.
There are too many unadressed questions, to many threads to resolve and I think the show has been great this year. It would take really great  stupidity to say otherwise and there is no way the show can be summed up fully without a 5th season.

One thing is certain.  Heroes, for whatever reason, is an extremely polarizing show.  But in this case, it’s the haters that scream the loudest while even die hard fans can come across sounding like haters.  I have no idea why.  But so it is.

There really aren’t as many “plotholes” as people claim.  At the very least, there are no more plotholes than in any typical sci-fi or fantasy based show– especially one that deals with any form of time travel.  Truly, there aren’t many rationally valid reasons to dislike Heroes as compared to other shows especially those in the sci-fi genre.  People for whatever reason, just have this strong emotional reaction to the show consistently of contempt and hate– maybe it’s because their favorite character died, they hate Sylar, or someone on the show is ugly.  I wish people would just say this though rather than making up some crazy rationalization for why the show is worthlessly paradoxical or reaching for whatever sounds like the most plausible reason to dislike Heroes this time.

Everyone gets it.  When your favorite character died or the loathsome villain survived, it was like reliving your childhood dog’s death all over again.  That’s nice.  Now stop trolling Heroes forums, and let everyone who actually enjoys the show or has something constructive to contribute continue on with their lives unfettered.

IMHO, Heroes failed where shows like LOST and Supernatural (not that they have anything in common artistically, they have just been around long enough), in the sense that it is a serial show with no grand mythology behind it. Powers… check. Villains… check. Good guys… ahn, kinda. A great end game to be hinted through all seasons until it ended… FAIL! I think the Heroes writers could’ve extended the awesomeness and mystery of season 1 ’til season 3, EASILY! They had it, “save the cheerleader, save the world”, destiny calling out for them to fight TOGETHER! Which leads to another subject, the characters are to ‘far away’ from each other. Sure, they’re Super Bowl pals, they can eventually get together to get their asses wooped by Sylar (don’t get me started with him! Quinto rules, but not THAT much!) They just live their lives separately. That’s just creative hell if you have 6+ main characters!
They didn’t use time-travelling right, they just messed everything up and had no idea of how to clean up for themselves. At this point, only Brian K. Vaughn could REALLY save this show.

Oh, just a quick one. My favorite Heroes moment was when they all fought Sylar, together, in NY. That was just PERFECT! They should really regroup, that’s what i’m really missing.

I only briefly tuned into an episode, but Knepper was surprisingly BAD in the scene I saw. How is he so overrated?

It’s about time. I really only care for one character – Peter – and they screwed him up a while ago. Hopefully he’ll get a bit of a “redemption” before this dying beast staggers across the finish line.

“in the sense that it is a serial show with no grand mythology behind it.”
    .
So…apparently, you skipped s2 and the “1961″ episode last spring?
s2 set up a giant mythology with Angela’s claim her generation “mortgaged their souls for yours” she tells Parkman, when she (wrongfully) confesses to the murder of Kaito Nakamura.  What do they do? We end up with most of that “generation” DEAD after dropping the ball on half a dozen story lines in s3 because Kring “decided to go in a different direction” after the WGA strike cut s2 short.
    .
Kring needs to step the F off as does NBC, cutting budget and even firing writers over Kring’s head.  The writers also need to get out of the rut of re-using the same tired plot for several characters every season, and put Claire on the freaking backburner once in a while!  Stop shoe-horning that vapid waste of space into EVERY episode ths season!
    .
I’d LOVE to see the show go on, but I can’t think of how they could with the corner they have painted themselves into.  Either Samuel destroys the world in February’s season finale, or he winds up exposing them all to the world.  The latter would be good for another season, but that’s it.  Even then, I can only hope they turn that volume/arc into a “special event” like Torchwood’s “Children of Earth” mini-series/s3.
    .
so, send in your paper cranes or whatnot to NBC, begging them to rethink this RUMOR (and that is all it is, right now!) or start bugging TNT to save yet another NBC show, like they did with SouthLand.
    .
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Heroes has not been remotely good since season 1. I stopped watching after season 3, but I’ve heard seasonn 4 is pretty terrible. It’s time to end it.

  • Am I Still a Fan?

Yes, yes I am. I love Quinto, he is that good! BUT… Dude… This season just stinks with all of the carnival stuff. I mean, it HAS potential, but the writing is just horrific. TOO MUCH cheerleader, not enough saving the world. Is the world even ending anymore? Are they really doing anything super-hero like?!  It’s more like “Axe the cheerleader, save the world!”
I just think this season is a bunch of over-zealous drama. It wasn’t until a couple of episodes ago where things started coming together. I was left with the feeling of WTF until around Ep10 i think. And I have watched from the beginning!

The writers preoccupation with Sylar is what killed this show. They destroyed Peter Petrelli and kep Sylar powerful…and added to him. At this point there is not one damn thing Sylar cannot do. It's retarded. They should have never given him regeneration and kept him a minor villian and concentrated on bigger plots. Instead every season is a repeat of “Sylar's Life”. I am tired of it already.

They killed off Nathan and destroyed the brother and family aspect there, they broke up the Bennets, destroying that aspect. And to top it off the new writers are throwing little “political” jabs in the scripts these days. Who needs that? Really though it's just Sylar…he needs to go. Had they not overpowered him to the point he dominates every second of every episode he would be a healthy addition. He was defeated in episode one, he should become a MINOR player, his character is ok in moderation. Lets see all the krap he can do now:

    laser cutter finger
    knows how anything works
    Shape shift(lame)
    Regenerate(ultra lame)
    Telekinesis
    Read objects history
Tell if you are lying or not
    Read your desires
    Fly (lame)
    Shoot lightening
    Shoot fire
    Control people's bodies
    turn stuff into solid gold
melt things(though he never does it)
AND THE VERY WORST EMPATHETIC POWER LEARNER!!! My god really? One of the few restrictions on him was he had to kill to get the powers. And at the same time they take away Peter's ability to pick up powers…..Season 3 worst ever

And probably more that I am missing….the point is this has got to stop. It's amazing they haven't given him Parkmans mind control abilities or Hiro's time travel…….really why not rename him god and just give him everything and be done with it? I was hoping season 4 would amend some of this but nope….he is empathetically acquiring new powers as I type this.

Heroes seriousy has become the worst show in the world. I HONESTLY was a HUGE HUGE fan. I still watch the show every Monday, but I honestly just cannot believe how horrible it is…how incredibly incredibly horrible. I watch it every week hoping it will get good. Sometimes something happens that makes you really excited and your like, “yeah!!!”, but then the idea isn't developed anymore. I seriously loved this show and i wish so badly it would get good. I guess I'll just have to stick with Smallville for now (which is probably on of the best seasons EVER)
