TV lost a great actor this weekend as James Rebhorn died at the age of 65. If you don’t know his name, you certainly recognize his face from his prominent roles on shows like Homeland and White Collar. He died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992, but came back to find him in the end.
The man has been in quite a few TV shows, and has built up quite a film resume as well. Over the years he’s appeared in everything from Independence Day to The Talented Mr. Ripley to Meet the Parents to Cold Mountain to Real Steel. The list could go on for quite some time.
Most recently, he’s probably easily recognized as playing Carrie’s father on Homeland, as he’s always trying to manage her craziness. No word on if the show will actually use his death as a plot turn in the show, or if we simply won’t see the character again.
Thoughts go out to his friends and family.
