House of Lies 2.02 Sneak Peeks: Does Jeannie Have a New Mentor?

House of LiesThe introduction of Julianne could have major implications for the second season of House of Lies. Any time a new boss comes into a well-established yet troubled company, the first thing they'll be looking to do is lay their mark on the place and fill the building with people they know and trust. Even a successful outfit like The Pod, who were the stars of Galweather pre-scandal, will have to pass a close inspection to see if they would ever be a liability to the company; Jeannie's meaningless promotion in the season premiere was meant to keep her quiet and happy, as well as lock Marty down for the long-run, but that might not have been the wisest move on Julianne's part.

Because it never seemed like a genuine promotion or a promotion that would have actual benefits or additional responsibilities. Jeannie, especially, immediately knew that it was an empty gesture meant to keep her placid and the cavalcade of women meant to come barreling into the company were going to be above her, making her new position that much more irrelevant. And she says this to Julianne in a sneak peek from the next episode of House of Lies when Julianne offers to mentor her.

You have to admire Jeannie having the bravery/recklessness to stand up for herself when she feels like she's being disrespected, especially after what happened with the scandal and everyone branding her as a typical "pretty girl sleeps her way to the top" story. This time, though, she has the chance to do things her way and that doesn't involve empty handouts and passive aggression from a tech-exec-turned-politician who spent $100 million to lose an election.

House of Lies airs Sundays at 10:00 on Showtime.

Is Jeannie right in refusing Julianne's help? Will Clyde and Doug ever find out what happened between Jeannie and Marty? What's your buffet strategy?
