Back then we thought, is it possible, could Nora have changed Barney and now they’re going to get hitched? Or could it be someone we hadn’t met yet? Or better yet, could it be the obvious love of his life, Robin?

Well, during the seventh season finale, we were handsomely rewarded for our patience when we found out that…

YES! ROBIN IS BARNEY’S BRIDE!! Excuse us while we do a happy snoopy dance and jump and shout with glee!!

OK, OK, we’re done.

Wait, one more time! Ok, now we're done!

Frankly, it would have been a major let down if Barney’s bride turned out to be anyone other than Robin. Although his relationship and proposal to Quinn (Becki Newton) was great and adorable (especially that magic trick), Barney and Robin belong together and there was really no other viable option to be his bride. We don’t yet know what happened to Quinn or how the pair got to this point but it appears Season 8 of HIMYM will shed some light on these tales.

While this was the biggest reveal of the night, learning of Barney’s bride wasn’t the only big bomb dropped during the one-hour season ender. We also saw Ted drive off into the sunset with his only “real chance at the one,” Victoria (Ashley Williams). After calling her at Robin’s insistence, his former girlfriend shows up at MacLaren’s in her wedding dress ready to ask him to run off with her. While at first, he seems to make the right decision to drive her back to her fiancé at the church, moments later Ted keeps driving on past and takes her hand. While we know Victoria is not the mother as Ted meets his future wife on Barney’s big day, co-creator and executive producer Craig Thomas tells EW that this relationship with Victoria will be the closure Ted needs in order to be ready for meeting the mother. According to Thomas, she [Victoria] is “going to play a significant role” next season.

Last but not least, baby Ericksen also made his first appearance in the episode. Marvin “waitforit” Erickson has, as mentioned, the “coolest middle name of all time.” Seriously, can you just picture him saying his full name when he's older, just as Barney does now? It will be legen-“wait for it”-dary.

Marvin also gets his first outing to Maclaren’s, which really is kind of the perfect first outing for Lily and Marshall’s bundle of joy. How will the little guy change their lives? Well, to start things off, Ted is instructed to only come to the couple with problems of an “8 or higher" now. Other big changes are sure to be in the works for next year.

So tell us readers, what did you think about “The Magician’s Code?” Were you excited about Barney’s bride? What do you think happened to Quinn? What do you think about Ted and Victoria? How awesome is baby Ericksen? Let us know in the comments below!

Tonight's episode, titled "Now We're Even", finds Ted (Josh Radnor) settling into his brand new apartment all alone. But then Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) has an epiphany: "make every night legendary". In order to do that, he encourages his friends to go out to party every single night. And thus begins the vow: "The non-legendary nights are done. From here on in, every single might of our lives will be a night we'll never forget. Starting tonight!". But when Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) bail on them, Barney forces Ted to be his only ally in this plan. Of course, this leads to some wacky situations, complete with Mariachi outfits and an incident with Ted in a dress.

Meanwhille, Lily is kind of freaked out when she has an erotic dream about another man who is not Marshall, while Robin (Cobie Smulders) finally becomes a famous news anchor.

Watch a sneak peek below for tonight's all new episode of How I Met Your Mother, airing at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Use the arrows above to browse through photos for the episode.

In tonight's episode, titled "The Broath", Ted and the gang are shocked when Barney and Quinn announce that they want to move in together, which actually leaves Ted and Robin fighting over who should sublet her apartment. But the gang decides to try and break Barney and Quinn up, thinking that they're moving far too fast.

Barney is shocked when he realizes what his friends are doing and zeroes in on Ted, accusing him of breaking the a "broath". To illustrate the importance of the broath, Barney tells a bit of history: he plays Julius Caesar, with Ted playing Brutus. Caesar is shocked when Brutus swears a broath and then betrays him, sending a group of ninjas after him. Clearly Barney is taking some liberties with history.

Last night’s episode, the second new episode of 2012, “The Burning Beekeeper” did just that for a raucous (not really) house party that lasted all of five minutes. While overall the episode was somewhat lackluster and forgettable in that I only laughed out loud maybe twice, I really enjoyed the structure of how the story was set up. Moving from room to room to explain how the party became such a disaster, piece by piece, was a clever idea. However, I didn’t find anything that happened in any of these rooms all that entertaining. A big wheel of gouda off the Internet, some mice, a crazy cat lady, an almost brawl over vegan spring rolls and a basement full of bees? Nothing grabbed my attention.

There were, of course, some great one-liners though. (see ‘Quips of the night’ below). It appeared that only sentiment which pushed the continuing plot of the series forward seemed to come with Lily’s revelation that a crisis every 30 seconds is just like parenthood will be. To me, her comment appeared to be thrown in to forge a connection and justify the episode of crises but I'm really interested to hear what all you readers think. Also where exactly did her dad get all those bees?!?!

Some additional thoughts:

A cat bah mitzvah, really? That lady was the craziest cat lady I’ve ever seen!

Can Lily’s dad (played by Chris Elliot) leave now?

Where is Kevin (Kal Penn)? I don’t mind him not being around but I didn’t miss a breakup or anything did I?

Quips of the night:

“This party is important to me. So I can only assume and I say this with love you’re going to ruin it.” – Lily to her Dad

“You know mother earth is also having a housewarming party too. Only hers ends in human kind at the bottom of a rising ocean passing through the digestive track of a sting ray.” – Mr. Cootes (Martin Short)

“Every penis is a girl, Robin. Everyone knows that. Like ships and lake monsters. “ – Barney

“I know you got it off the Interent. Why does that make it impressive? You know what else you can find on the Internet? Zoo animals masterbating.” – Barney

So give it to us readers....Did you like last night's episode? Do you still care about the old gang? What would you like to see happen to these characters? Let us know in the comments below!

And so it begins. Tonight’s 150th episode of How I Met Your Mother started the the physical and geographic dissolution of some of our favorite friends on television.

In this monumental episode, Marshall and Lily did it…they officially moved to Long Island. And with their departure from the city, Barney appointed himself leader of the group, fresh with his own set of awesome credits. Remember that amazing idea he had – every night since 2005 – to go to a strip club…well it's a go since Lily can no longer say 'no!'

This brought us the return of Stripper Lily, Jasmine, the one-of-a-kind Lily’s Russian doppelganger. Save for some awkward moments between Kevin and Robin that were nowhere near as funny as intended, the scenes at the strip club and the poker game were pretty great.

Josh Radnor was his most likeable and amusing as drunk Ted, especially with his rendition of “We built (chip) city" and his voicemail to Marshall and Lily. The third set of credits of the night featuring new best friends, Stripper Lily and New Marshall was also quite entertaining.

As for Marshall and Lily, they were continuing to deal with Lily’s father Mickey (guest star Chris Elliot) who returned in a poignant moment at the end of “Tailgate” and has been staying with them in the ‘burbs ever since. Mickey was annoying as all heck telling Marshall and Lily what to do in every room of the house to the point where they told him he had to go. So when Marshall accidently blew a fuse, Mickey decided to get all creepy and spook him out around the house before finally succumbing to his daughter’s pleas and helping her husband out. Let’s just say Jason Segel’s face in night vision made for quite a hilarious treat.

At the end, the gang ended up together as they should be around Lily and Marshall’s kitchen booth. While they may not be at MacLaren’s and may not all live in the same zip code anymore, these friends proved tonight, they’re simply better when they’re together.

Some additional thoughts:

The whole “new relationship chicken” storyline didn’t work for me at all. It was painful to watch Robin and Kevin throw out lines like “Money ain’t no thing” and “Make it rain” in the strip club. The chemistry for them just isn’t there. Is anyone else buying the two as a couple?

February sweeps is looking like a big month for HIMYM according to this great interview with Carter and Bays over at The Hollywood Reporter. I’m excited to see some of these developments get under way.

Quips of the night:

“Tonight is going to be legen – Wait, are we sure it’s a good idea to go to a strip club? – Shut up Lily, I’m in charge now – dary.” – Barney

“You know Butterfly knife, I’d expect this from Face Tattoo, or Jagged Cheek Scar or Larry, but not you - Why don’t I get nickname? (Larry) – Because you have too many things Larry! You get one thing!” – Ted

“Don’t let me be in charge of the gang anymore.” – Barney (crying)

“We got to hit that party. (In a quiet voice) I’ll never find love.” – Ted

“We’re going to go see only Marshall and one-of-a-kind Lily because they’re our best friends and only 46 minutes away.” – Ted

“Our booth was where ever the five of us were together. “ – Future Ted

So what did everyone else think? How do you feel about Lily and Marshall finally making the move to the burbs? Let us know in the comments below!

As Marshall spent the day carrying on traditions by tailgating at his father’s grave in Minnesota, Lily called her father to share her big baby news and experienced her first Enigma of the Mystical. Meanwhile Robin got some air time when Sandy Rivers went drunk and crazy as Ted and Barney learned the reason bars charge covers when they finally opened their bar, “Puzzles.”

I pretty much love most of what Jason Segel does in HIMYM especially when it concerns Marshall’s father so I thought this poignant storyline was great. Having his brothers show up and then him being called Marvin by one of the rogue grievers/tailgaters had the perfect finishing touch. The contrast between this and Lily’s not so great relationship with her father worked really well. Which made it all the better when her father (played by guest star Chris Elliot) showed up with a giant teddy bear and a smile on his face about her pregnancy. Alyson Hannigan really sold this moment well as evidenced by the tears welling up in my eyes.

Robin making strides in her career due to the completely inebriated Sandy Rivers was also exciting. It was nice to see her take a few steps forward with good news after the devastation she was brought in 2011. I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out in the rest of the season and while I’m still not feeling Kevin in the mix I am happy he pushed her to do what she really wanted and needed to do.

“Puzzles” was fun and had a great theme song (which you can hear here at puzzlesthebar.com) but I thought this story could have been a bit better. I have to hand it Barney and Ted (and the writers) though, I love this name for a bar.

Some additional thoughts:

So that’s what SPAM stands for huh? Sliced Processed Alien Meat?

Did everyone notice the ‘Slap Bet’ board game Lily’s dad had?

Alexis Denisof as Sandy Rivers is fantastic.

Quips of the night:

“I think the most appropriate way to honor your memory today is to get blasted and watch the Vikings make the bears their furry little bitches. Go Vikes!” – Marshall

“Well I’m trying to feel Dad’s spirit flow through my soul, butt breath.” – Marshall

“First of all, I wouldn’t use the ‘M’ Word. Only they can call themselves that.” – Marshall re: Monsters

"People will be like 'Why is it called Puzzles?' That's the puzzle." - Barney

So what did everyone else think? Did you enjoy Marshall’s tribute to his dad? Would you go to Puzzles? Let us know in the comments below

How I Met Your Mother 7.12: "Symphony of Illumination" Review

The excitement I felt when tonight’s How I Met Your Mother began with Robin telling her kids about how she told their father (Barney!) she was pregnant was palpable. So much so that I actually had to do a double take on the DVR and rewind it a few times to make sure I heard her right. I just couldn’t believe it!

Too bad that double take was for nothing as we found out by episode’s end that these “kids” were just a sham, a figment of Robin’s imagination. I guess it was too good to be true that the show could have that much plot development take place so nonchalantly in an episode but damn, it would have been fantastic. And it would have made this one if not the best episode of the season.

Let me first say, Cobie Smulders did an incredible job tonight portraying Robin’s range of emotions as she grapples with the possibility of being pregnant, the relief that she’s not and then the pain that she can’t ever have children. She was phenomenal for the ENTIRE episode. Her scenes with Josh Radnor over whose job it is to “cheer her up” were fantastic and some of the best work we’ve seen from not only her but him all season. Perhaps most importantly, these scenes made me interested and thankful for Ted as a character again which has been a long time coming.

As a card-carrying member of the Barney and Robin fan club, their fake kids really messed with my head. Why give us something so direct and so forward launching in these character’s lives just to take it away? I feel cheated…again. There has been so much “almost” development in their relationship this season, it’s getting kind of old. I, as I suspect many of you are, am ready for progress. Let’s get rid of Kevin (who has been a mere after thought in the past few episodes) and get the ball really rolling on these two. Or don’t and take the possibility that Robin and Barney end up together out of the equation.

I feel like Marshall on the roof being jerked around by a teenager and although this was an otherwise great episode, I’m sick of not knowing anything concrete about the future for most of our favorite gang.

Some additional thoughts:

How epically amazing was that AC/DC light display? Seriously, so cool.

Robin’s descriptions of the gangs reactions to her news and then their fulfillments of these descriptions upon hearing she couldn't "pole vault" were hilarious.

Neil Patrick Harris is adorable when talking about babies. He just is.

What does it say or mean that Robin won’t have any kids but that Barney wants them? Will this stop them from getting together?

Quips of the night:

“Robin do you have any idea why they call them manheim steamroller? because they rock so hard so festively that steam comes out of your brain as it melts.” - Marshall

“Oh I still drink. ” – Insane Dwayne

“God damn it. That thing’s as cute as crap.” – Robin

“I know it’s not Canada but it starts with a ‘C’ and is as cold as balls.” – Ted, re: asking Robin to come to Cleveland for Christmas.

So what did everyone else think? Were you just as thrown as I was by the fake out? Did you enjoy the episode? What do you hope for the future for Robin, Barney and Ted? Let us know in the comments below!

Get yourself to CBS.com or to your DVR asap before reading.**

It was the baby news heard ‘round the world.

Just as Barney was joking about how bad he would be as a dad on last night’s How I Met Your Mother, Robin tells him she is pregnant. Yes, you read that right, ROBIN IS PREGNANT.

My immediate reaction to this news: “WHATTTTTTTT?”

Presuming the baby is Barney’s, this is a jaw dropping cliffhanger Carter and Bays have thrown at us. Of course there is a chance the baby could be Kevin’s. However, I’m really hoping the father of Robin’s child is revealed quickly and doesn’t play out as a mystery. After all isn’t that what we have the mother for? Speaking of Kevin where was he this episode? When there’s hardly a mention of him, I tend to wishfully forget he exists and hope Barney and Robin start making out.

On my second watch of ‘The Rebound Girl,’ there seemed to be clues throughout the episode that something was off with Robin and that it just may have something to do with babies. It looks like I just didn’t put the pieces together when first seeing them.

First there was Barney and Ted’s desire to become “bro parents” complete with Barney’s kidnapping babysitting of his brother James’ new daughter. While absolutely insane (but is it really?) this storyline was hilarious. I especially loved Barney and Ted’s squabble over who should stay home with their baby. Also “Hurricane Mosby Stinson” how awesome is that name?!

Then there was Robin’s desperation against Marshall and Lily’s desire to move to Long Island and her subsequent act of craziness by locking herself in the bathroom. As Marshall pointed out, Robin is a strong independent woman and probably the least likely person he knows to lock herself in the bathroom on Thanksgiving. She also had a couple of freak-outs in Marshall and Lily’s tiny New York apartment. While we definitely were clued in that something was off I never once thought pregnant.

I can’t help but ponder how this might change not only Barney and Robin’s relationship but also the group dynamic as a whole whether or not Robin has the baby. If she does have the baby, it will change her relationship with Barney or Kevin no matter who is the father and sooner rather than later there will be two babies running around with the gang. If she doesn’t have the baby, then that could provide some tension between the would be parents that they may not be able to get over. Either way, I was hoping that when Barney and Robin got together it would happen the way it should have last week and not under these circumstances. If this is what makes Robin realize they should be together, I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

There are still so many additional thoughts to process over this revelation that I just can’t seem to get them straight. So readers help me out, what did you think? Were you surprised at Robin’s baby bomb? Who do you think the father is? Do you think she’ll have the baby? Will Lily and Marshall move to Long Island? Check out our quips of the night below and then let us know!

Quips of the Night

“If you were a girl you would have cut bangs and been dating you by now.” – Ted re: Barney’s crazy last few weeks

“I wish men could have children on their own like seahorses” - Barney

“Bro-parents activate!” – Ted

“What it is I do for a living? I work, Ted, 14 hours a day so that our baby can have food and clothes and a nice house while you sit around doodling pictures of buildings that’s what it is I do.” – Barney

“Do you have a baby guy? Did Guy the guy guy get you a baby guy?” – Ted

“Robin, do you think I should have become a Ghostbuster?” – Marshall re: his dreams of a firehouse for sale and a run in with Ernie Hudson

I’ll be getting my jalapeno vodka mix ready to send over to CBS at any moment.

The last few seconds of this week’s How I Met Your Mother simply destroyed me. Watching Barney’s face the moment he saw Kevin and then subsequently cleaning up the roses and candles he set up for Robin in her room was just devastating. (My notes are full of expletives at this point.) It was like a Band-Aid being pulled off as quick as possible and I was left a blubbering mess.

That was some reversal of roles in their relationship though. Contrary to the beginning of the season when Robin was pining after Barney, it’s obvious that now he is the one longing for their rekindled relationship. It was nerve wracking watching Nora question whether his cheating had meant anything to him. So when he said it did and all he could think of was Robin during Nora’s father’s speech, I couldn’t help but have a gleeful smile on my face.

Yet my smile quickly turned to tears when Robin shook her head no. So WHY wasn’t his feelings officially reciprocated? I suppose I understand that Kevin’s declarations of love were so heartfelt and beautiful that Robin thought that’s what she wanted to hear but damn if it didn’t kill me and damn her that it nearly killed Barney. (Why oh dear writers why?)

So listen Robin, that is not what you want to hear. You want to be with Barney. You, I and everyone know it. So excuse my language but cut the crap, dump the shrink and marry Barney. Do it now! NOW I SAID! (Ok. Sorry, I got a little intense there.)

Great episodes of HIMYM do this. They make you feel every emotion. You yell, you cry and you laugh out loud multiple times. This episode made me angry I have to wait till next Monday for a new one and reminded me why I’ve been so invested in these characters. Well at the very least in Barney and Robin.

Ted, Marshall and Lily’s storyline left a little to be desired. The marij – nated steak sandwiches bit was funny to an extent but not the best storyline they’ve taken down this road. I’m more interested in seeing how Ted is going to talk to Barney about what he saw which seems to be what next week’s episode will target with a discussion of a life changing decision. I’m hoping whatever this decision is will help me rekindle my love with the ‘I’ in How I Met Your Mother.

Some additional thoughts:

The song Robin and Barney swore they danced to that night was incredible and pulled off so well by that singer/actor. My favorite line had to be -- “you’re like scum on the edge of the toilet bowl (flush) what the hell is in the place where you should have a soul? (slut).”

Neil Patrick Harris was Emmy worthy tonight. You could feel the truth he brought to Barney’s feelings for Robin. It made it all the more heartbreaking when Kevin showed up at Maclaren’s with her.

Quips of the night:

“What’s that saying about two wrongs make a right?” – Barney; “Two wrongs don’t make a right?” – Robin; “No, that’s not it.” – Barney

“Even the tickets smell like cloves and mediocrity.” – Ted re: Grooveapalooza

"What if this whole thing isn't a story about how we both made a horrible mistake and ruined our relationships? What if it's actually the story of how we got back together?" – Barney (Say it with me…. “Awwwww”)

“One’s ability to grow facial hair directly correlates to one’s ability to be a good father” – concert goer/stoner with nachos

“Don’t forget our mystery gift bags. They’re condoms.” – Sandy

So tell me readers...What did you think? Were you as angry as I was that the prospect of Robin and Barney was dangled in front of us and then torn away? Are you mad at Robin? How do you think Ted will factor into this? Let us know in the comments below!

Barney and Robin MADE OUT in the cab.

And I think that’s all I really needed to make me CARE about what’s going to happen in the coming weeks on How I Met Your Mother and it’s about time it happened. I was getting worried for a few episodes there.

Now, do I think they are going to just dump their significant others and hop right into a relationship, no, but hey, I wouldn’t be opposed to it. (Sorry Kevin and Nora!)

So, let’s talk about boogie boarding…

Last night’s HIMYM focused on the story of how the gang is responsible for the ‘absolutely no boogie boarding’ sign in front of Maclarens for their antics during Hurricane Irene in addition to Barney’s quest to get rid of the Ducky tie.

I loved parts of this episode so much. For me, it pretty much is always a good episode when Carter and Bays keep up continuity and bring in previous episodes or gags. In this case, the ducky tie and the slap bet. The only thing missing was Robin taking a dig at Barney for his Canadian heritage.

So after Kevin “therapized” Barney, we learn the only reason he wants to take his tie off is because he’s meeting Nora’s parents and wants them to like him. Barney tempts Marshall all episode with the offer of an additional slap in exchange for his freedom from the ducks. Then we learn that Lily and Marshall conceived baby Eriksen in Barney’s bathtub on the night of the Hurricane. With this information in the open, they decide to let Barney take off the tie in exchange for 3 additional slaps on the slap bet (for a grand total of 4 as Marshall has one slap left).

Marshall quickly used two of them and wailed on Barney at the bar. The slaps were epic and Neil Patrick Harris’ quivering in this scene as hilarious. My one question this brings up is that we’ve seen Barney wearing the ducky tie in the flash-forward to the casino earlier in the season so how or why does he have to put the ducky tie back on?

Robin and Barney’s scene in the rain after the hurricane was particularly touching as Barney apologizes for pretending to be her dad and tells her “when I let a day go by without talking to you…that day is just no good.”

Marshall spent the hurricane being afraid his uninsured self (at the time, he was recently unemployed) would get hurt. More specifically, afraid he’d get attacked by a bear. This gag, while kind of stupid, became pretty funny when Marshall was attacked in the bathroom, the most dangerous of all rooms in the house.

Lily, meanwhile, tried to get some alone time from Marshall and Ted rocked a great pair of pink rain boots as he used his boy scout skills to try to save everyone.

Some additional thoughts:

The opening to this episode was pretty great. It was like Barney as Indiana Jones.

I’m just going to come out and say it: The character I care least for is Ted. He needs a strong storyline and stat.

Quips of the night:

“I don’t know Lily. We have a baby on the way. An extra slap may come in handy.” – Marshall

“You’re a tropical depression.” – Robin

“Oh, therapisted! Shrinked? Shrunked? We’ll figure it out.” – Ted

“I think I need to go home and evaluate how I make life decisions.” – Barney

In other news, Barney is a quarter Canadian and Lily has major pregnancy brain. Last night’s holiday themed episode of How I Met Your Mother brought us some laughs and some groans and overall was a very uneven episode. So let’s suss out the good and the bad, shall we…

The Good: Robin and Barney. Canadian vs. American/quarter Canadian.

Every time I found myself laughing out loud last night was at these two. Robin’s incessant nagging of Barney’s Canadian ancestry was hilarious and totally called for given all the crap he’s given her about her heritage over the years. His entrance to the party set to “Living in America” was epic as was Barney crying in the mirror in his Mountie costume. This whole storyline was a win and I hope Robin continues to tease Barney all season. Also I loved the Ducky Tie wrapped around his arm.

The Bad: Everything about the slutty pumpkin storyline.

I get that Ted’s interactions with his long lost dream girl were supposed to be a disappointment to him but none of the awkwardness with Naomi (Katie Holmes) was that funny…it was just awkward. K Maybe the slutty pumpkin was bound to be a disappointment given the history of the character?

The Marshall/Lily plot of the night was nothing spectacular but overall more fun and amusing than Ted’s. I especially enjoyed Lily’s inability to say things correctly at MacLaren’s.

Maybe I am just ready for us to meet the mother and for me to care about the characters they way I did last season when Marshall’s father died. How about you? Did you enjoy the slutty pumpkin? What was your favorite storyline of the night?

Quips of the night:

“I want scotch…American scotch from Scotland.” – Barney

“I really really like her. I just don’t seem to like anything she says or does.” – Ted re: Naomi

“Its wrong to bang a drunk chick but you’re an idiot if you don’t get a little something.” Re: Lily’s pregnancy brain

“I’ve got pregnancy brain like a fiddle and I’ve been playing you like a fox.” – Lily

“Look at how happy and sweet and unarmed they all are.” – Lily re: trick-or-treaters

“Into the hidden camera at future me watching it.” – Barney re: where he looks during sex

This week’s episode dealt with Kevin’s declaration that psychologically it is normal to marry someone just like your parents which was sparked by Barney’s brother’s idea that Nora is just like their mom, Loretta. Hence, the episode title, “Noretta.”

Throughout the episode we saw each of the characters with the exception of Robin see how their significant other, or in Ted’s case, a prospective date are like one of their parents.

While there were definitely some scenes where I laughed out loud, nothing grabbed me enough to make note of, which to be blunt, sucks.

I did think the concerned comment by Kevin regarding Ted and Robin’s relationship was quite interesting. You know the one where he implied Robin still had feelings for her roomie. (“This isn’t one of those classic you still have feelings for your ex-boyfriend, who’s oddly also your roommate which for the record I’m totally cool with even though everybody tells me I walked into a bear trap things, is it?”)

It again made me think of what Victoria said in “Ducky Tie” about none of Ted’s relationships ever working because of his still close relationship with Robin and keeps me wondering if something is being implied about their relationship here? Or perhaps I am just grabbing at straws? What do you all think? Did you enjoy the episode? Is there something in the future for Robin and Ted?

Some additional thoughts:

Chutes and Lillies with Post-its...hilarious.

There was a whole lot of guest stars tonight!

Weird Al or Peculiar Jacques? You decide.

Quips of the Night:

“Bootytown…We’re going to Bootytown.” – Barney

“No irky irky till the baby comes out?” – Marshall

“BAM! Top of the charts!” – Everyone re: Ted’s story about giving Weird Al ‘Like a Surgeon’

Next Week, Katie Holmes guest stars on HIMYM as the Slutty Pumpkin which Ted met long ago. Earlier this week, TVOvermind posted some photos from the episode which you can check out here. You can also check out a video sneak peek of the episode at CBS.com.

How I Met Your Mother airs at 8pm on Monday nights on CBS.

Was the information about Janet Wagner (guest star Amber Stevens) in tonight’s How I Met Your Mother really spit take worthy? That would be "no."

For all her awesomeness, I wouldn’t imagine the gang would think Ted NEEDS to know that she graduated Princeton at 15 and did 85 other fabulous things. Granted what her character did can be deemed amazing but with the gang knowing how this information will change his perspective and actions, this recurring joke and spit take just didn’t make sense. I guess I can understand Robin and Barney pressing this but I just don’t buy it for Lily and Marshall.

It’s interesting though how the Internet affects people’s relationships and it was nice to see this addressed in the episode. Nowadays, you can in fact have relationships that take place just over the internet. It’s so weird but so normal. I think you’d be hard pressed to find a person in their 20s or even their 30s who hasn’t googled, facebooked, or twittered a potential date or friend (myself included). Not sure what that says about us as a generation on the whole but I guess this is just the age we live in.

That’s besides the point though. The other big plot tonight was Kevin’s (Kal Penn) psychoanalysis of the group and the reveal of the sex of Baby Erickson. After promising not to analyze them in order to win boyfriend points, Kevin flips when Barney and Robin want to go break up Ted’s date.

“ You’re all the most codependent incestuous controlling group people I’ve ever met!” he exclaims.

Well ain’t that the truth. Most of what this gang of friends does to each other is far from healthy relationship-wise. They’re a little dysfunctional family but the truth is most groups of friends are probably like this to some extent. Separation anxiety, inappropriate social behavior, Survivor (the TV show) guilt…they’ve got it all. Even the physical violence, though Kevin doesn’t get to see that. With Victoria mentioning something similar about Ted, Robin and Barney's relationship in the third episode of the season, I’ll continue to be intrigued on how the group dynamics will be put on display and changed throughout the course of this season. At least for now.

Here’s hoping for some big changes and good episodes along the way.

Some additional thoughts:

LOVED the slap montage!

The pun snuggle may have just been the cutest thing ever.

Baby Erickson is a boy…..yay! Congrats Marshall and Lily!

The flash into Robin’s tomboy upbringing thought slightly funny didn’t really work for me.

Quips of the night:

“ I gots to know!” – Everyone ALL episode

“They’re 6 minutes into the date; Ted’s probably already told her that he loves her.” – Barney

“I can actually hear the sound of her vagina being boarded up.” – Ted talking about fonts on his date

“This is in no way emotional extortion. You guys are great.” – Kevin

So "I gots to know"...what did everyone else think? (Bad joke, I know.) How did Kevin fit into the group? Did you agree with his analysis? Do you use the internet like Ted? Let us know in the comments below!

Last night’s “Field Trip” was similar. There was a whole lot of plot development but it never really grabbed me the way the really good episodes of HIMYM does.

After Kevin tells Robin, he can no longer be her therapist because of his attraction to her, they share a series of breakfasts and then finally a real date. While everyone (see “Pollster!”) thinks this new relationship is creepy, Robin is determined to let herself be happy and after a quick turn as his “therapist” they decide to continue their relationship. While I like the idea of Robin and Kevin (mostly because I love Kal Penn), I can’t help but feel like every relationship Robin has and Barney too for that matter is just stalling until they get together. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but we’ll have to see how this relationship (Robin and Kevin) progresses.

Meanwhile Ted takes his students on a disastrous field trip which leads to Barney’s “Ewok” presentation and using Ted’s students as the best focus group ever. One of my favorite bits in the the episode had to be using Ted’s class as “Pollster” for all the debates Barney and Ted have ever had including “Jacob vs. Edward… James Olmos.” I mean really how perfect was that sample group? They could have done research studies!

Barney’s Ewok presentation was spurred by Nora’s declaration that she hates the ewoks in Return of the Jedi. In an amusing scene and power point I’d love to see, Barney describes the ‘Ewok’ line. According to the line you only hate ewoks if you were at least 10 on May 25, 1973 therefore Nora must be lying about her age. (She’s not since she only just saw the Star Wars movies last year.) Seems Barney is just trying to find reasons to run away from his successful relationship.

It was nice to see Marshall passionate about his new job. Seeing him upset when he discovers his boss Garrison Cootes (Martin Short) has given up on the earth and celebrates a non-victory against Gruber Pharmaceuticals with three cakes. Initially resigning to this idea, he marches into Cootes’ office and declares they cannot give up after seeing his new baby’s sonogram. They’re going to “war” and as Future Ted tells us they’re going to save the world.

Additional thoughts

Marshall’s family edited speech was done nicely.

Anyone else detect some jealously when Barney met Kevin?!?

I want to see Alyson Hanningan doing more as Lily. She seems to be just the pregnant one right now.

Quips of the night:

“ Bro, you’re killing it today.” – Robin to Kevin re: psychoanalyzing her perfectly, complete with fist pump explosion.

“It’s like watching The Breakfast Club on TBS.” – Barney re: Marshall’s edited speech

“I’m not going to die. I bought an old mine shaft in Colorado. I spent the last 6 months filling it with can goods, assault rifles and all 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights.” – Garrison Cootz Re: the world ending

Do you think Robin's new relationship is creepy? Is Barney going to sabotage his own relationship? Most importantly, How do you feel about the Ewoks? Let us know in the comments below!

Meanwhile, Ted agrees to go on a date, but chooses not to research the girl beforehand on the internet. The group interferes when they learn of Ted's choice, which leads him to believe that they are all too into each others' business.

Kal Penn will also be making a guest appearance in the episode as Kevin, Robin's new boyfriend.

How I Met Your Mother 7.03: "Ducky Tie" Review

“And we have weird.”

Says Victoria. In tonight’s episode of How I Met Your Mother, the Ted/Robin/Barney of it all is projected forward as we see the aftermath of Victoria and Ted’s run in at the architect’s ball interwoven with a hilariously elaborate Barney scheme to touch Lily’s new pregnancy boobs.

So what exactly does Victoria think is weird? Well the fact that the aforementioned triangle of exes hang out together every night. (That is kind of weird, huh?) While the pair reminisces while cleaning up her bakery she tells him this is the reason they never worked out and probably why all of his other relationships haven’t either. What we learn from future Ted is that although they don’t know it then, she’s right. I’m speculating that this has to do with Barney and Robin eventually (hopefully) getting together but is this a bit of foreshadowing for some future Ted and Robin developments? I’m not sure. We know she’s not the mother so it will be interesting to see what if anything plays out in that department.

Though just as quick as Victoria popped back into Ted’s life, she flew back out hopping on the Jitney to the Hamptons where close Klaus from her class (in Germany) will propose to her.

The Barney vs. Marshall/Lily bet was ridiculous great fun as it was played back and forth with Ted’s story. Barney’s conditioning of Marshall with his sneeze to get him to suggest Shin Jitzu was fantastic as was his face when Lily flashed him and caused him to drop the shrimp. Now we get to see Barney rock Marshall's ducky tie for a year. Though I could be mistaken I believe it made an appearance in the season premiere when we see Barney and Marhsall at the casino.

Some additional thoughts/observations:

Loved the return of the “Bangedy Bangedy” song.

How fantastic was the chemistry between Ashley Williams and Josh Radnor? Their “Klaus from your class” bit was adorable.

Did anyone catch Barney’s cat mug at the Hibachi restaurant? That thing was awesome! I want one!

Quips of the night:

“You make it sound like I’ve dated a series of Steig Larson novels.” – Ted

“Jeez Lily it’s like you have a butt on your chest. ” – Ted

“I believe your about to give a big speech on fate.” – Victoria

So now it’s your turn. What did you all think of tonight’s episode? Are you sad the Victoria’s appearance was so short and sweet? What did you make of what she had to say? Let us know in the comments below!

She will be portraying the Slutty Pumpkin, a long-referenced character dating back to season one that Ted met at a Halloween party, on the show's upcoming Halloween episode.

Though forever known to people of a certain age as Joey Potter, Katie Holmes has become more associated with her marriage to Tom Cruise and giving birth to a daughter, Suri, that has already become a tabloid target in her own right. Holmes currently has a film in theaters (Guillermo del Toro's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark), one scheduled to hit theaters this fall (Jack & Jill), and is coming off a turn as Jackie Kennedy on ReelzChannel's Emmy award winning The Kennedys. Aside from Dawson's Creek and The Kennedys, Holmes's only previous TV work was a one episode guest appearance on Eli Stone.

How I Met Your Mother airs Mondays at 8:00 on CBS.

Is Katie Holmes the actress you pictured playing the Slutty Pumpkin? If not her, who do you think the role should have gone to? How did you enjoy the premiere of How I Met Your Mother this past Monday?

Picking up where last season’s cliffhanger left off and still not giving us much information (though we may have been given a clue…more on that later) Barney is asking Ted which tie he should wear. Worried that he’ll have the worst wedding ever, Ted remarks about how they’ve already attended the worst wedding ever…Punchy’s wedding. And so the flashback in the flashback commences and episode 1, “The Best Man” is underway.

Throughout the two episodes, we see Marshall ruin Punchy’s wedding by unknowingly announcing that the bride is pregnant, get his dream job and become “Beercules;” Ted grace the cover of New York Magazine, start dating again and have a plast from the past; Robin use her truth voice and Barney sleep in a diner in order to get a second date with Nora. Essentially Lily’s responsibility in the episode was to throw out some great one-liners.

So with the pros and cons and the color charts in last night's episodes comparing Ted’s possible mates, I thought it best to pro and cons out the episodes. Visualize the color chart for me, will you?

PROS

Robin and Barney’s dance number: I love NPH. He is so great here. He and Cobie are perfect here but of course just as it ends, he gets a phone call from Nora (that type of lame horrible timing could make this a con as well).

Robin feeding Barney lines to Nora: The one moment of the episodes that really made me feel. Cobie Smulders was fantastic in this scene. If only Barney would have turned around and see that she was talking about him.

Lily: Girl was killing it with the one-liners tonight. See “Quips of the night” below.

“Beercules”: I love Jason Segel. That is all.

Barney revealing all his lies and staying at the diner: Though I am definitely a Barney/Robin shipper, I loved Barney actually showing his feelings and his need/want to change for Nora. It may be for the wrong girl right now but the character’s growth is more than welcome.

The Cleveland Browns wedding theme: This was awesome and reminiscent of Massachusetts’ weddings I’ve seen rocking the sports theme. Hilarious and ridiculous. But how awesome would it be if it were the New England Patriots? (I'm a Boston girl, sorry!)

Ted seeing Victoria: A shocking moment that I think was held under wraps pretty well.. As a disclaimer, I was a latecomer to HIMYM so I didn’t know all the history the pair held until reading about it on the internet. From comments and tweets I've read of fans, most people are excited.

CONS

The “psych!” jokes: If they had done one more ‘this is how Marshall ruined Punchy’s wedding but didn't’ joke I may have poked myself in the eye.

Barney’s plays for the ladies: A vampire? A Guinness World Record holder for longest fingernails? An escaped man slaughterer? These were just silly, and not in the good way.

Ted sees Victoria: According to what I’ve read, what we heard in the episodes and confirmed by Alan Sepinwall, Victoria can not be the mother because obviously Ted met her long before Barney’s wedding. Though she won’t be a Zoey because of their aforementioned history, dealing with another relationship that probably isn’t going to pan out in the end is really not appealing to me. Just show us the mother already. Then again I’m not as invested in Ted and Victoria’s relationship as many others so it would be interesting to hear what y’all think??

The pros seem to outweigh the cons here and although the episodes were nothing spectacular, they weren’t all that bad. Now back to that clue I thought we got… towards the end of the first episode, Lily comes in the groom’s (Barney's) room and tells Ted the bride wants to talk to him, which clearly makes us think of Robin. Right? Right?

Quips of the night:

“Whenever we board a flight you lick the plane”-- Lily to Marshall re: being superstitious

“The last man to screw you this hard then disappear was LeBron James” – Barney re: his plan for the ladies of Cleveland

“In 9 months I’ll be pushing a pumpkin headed Erickson baby out of my hoo ha, I think papa can manage a few extra cocktails” – Lily

“This son of a bitch has knee dimples” – Lily

“Honk away my friend, Honk away” – Marshall re: second base is not serious

Let us know what you think. Is it possible Victoria is the mother? TVLine has an exclusive interview with the creators saying she is a part of the "endgame. How do you feel about Robin and Nora? How excited are you for baby Erickson?

The second episode, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET, features Martin Short as a guest star. Marshall will get the job of his dreams in the episode and Short will be playing Garrison Cootes, his new boss. But after Marshall gets the job offer, he's worried that it might be rescinded once the company learns about certain videos he made in his past. Ted, meanwhile, debates about who to bring as his date to the Architects Ball.

Below is a trailer and three sneak peeks for the one-hour premiere of How I Met Your Mother, airing tonight beginning at 8:00 p.m. on CBS. Check out Robin and Barney busting a move at Punchy's wedding in the second video. To view photos from the episodes, click the arrows above.

Well, now Penn is quitting his job at the White House so he can go join the cast of How I Met Your Mother.

Penn, famous for portraying stoner Kumar in the Harold and Kumar film series (in which How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris prominently appeared as a greatly fictionalized version of himself), temporarily quit acting so that he could take up a role in government, acting as the associate director in the office of public liaison. At the time, he was the star of FOX's House, but he abruptly left the show during the show's fifth season with the episode "No Reason," which focused on his character's sudden, unexpected suicide. The death sent waves throughout the fan community, but Penn's role at the White House drew significantly less attention.

Now that he's left his post at the White House, Kumar -- er, Penn -- can return to television with How I Met Your Mother. According to TVLine, Penn's character, named Kevin, will be a love interest for Robin (Cobie Smulders).

Are you excited to see Penn return to television?

How I Met Your Mother 6.24 "Challenge Accepted" Review

To be truthful, it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to say about last night’s How I Met Your Mother. While the episode definitely had it’s high points and set things in motion for the next two seasons, I was left with some mediocre feelings. It was alright, but was by no means a favorite of mine. Maybe it was the Zoey of it all?

However, in this, the season finale of season 6 entitled “Challenge Accepted” we finally find out whose wedding it is where Ted meets the one.

As many fans, reporters and bloggers alike speculated, the wedding is Barney’s. So now the question, in addition to who's the mother, becomes who’s his bride? With the reappearance of Nora during tonight’s finale, could it be her? He did make a declaration of ‘Challenge Accepted.’

Or could it be Robin?

There were many words and looks thrown around between Robin and Barney tonight leading me to believe (and HOPE) that she just might be the bride. The subtext in their conversations about Ted and Zoey was undeniable. Not to mention, my completely shallow observation that in the flash forward, Lily’s dress sure looked to be a bridesmaid dress with the matching shoes and all.

Then again, this wedding is taking place “a little ways down the road” so the bride could be someone we’ve never met. We’ve seen Barney grow into more of an adult this season but he still has some ways to go before he’s the marrying type. Who knows what will happen between now and whenever that time may be?

We also found out that Lily and Marshall are pregnant. That’s right, the Erickson’s are finally having a baby. What Lily thought was a case of food poisoning was actually just a case of morning sickness. Hurray!!

Marshall also thinks he blew the interview at Bloom Greenberg and Associates (the biggest environmental firm in New York) because of his suspected forth coming food poisoning. Something tells me he’s wrong about this.

Ted, meanwhile, is nervous about his new building and becomes a sentimental sap who freaks out and attempts to get back together with Zoey. That is before Robin and Barney stop him in a hilarious take down at the intersection of Smith and 9th in Brooklyn.

Some additional thoughts:

It was nice to see Chi McBride, who guest starred as the foreman, if only for him to call Ted ‘Hot Shot' multiple times.

The velicoraptor bit was quite funny.

Marshall’s “a lot of living in 3 hours" was a definite highlight.

Barney's rule of all rules: New is ALWAYS better.

Quips of the night:

“That is going to be legen –wait for it – dary adjacent.” – Barney

“Marshall told us you’re exploding from both ends like a fire hydrant.” – Ted, re: Lily’s food poisoning (gross but hilarious)

“Oh crap, I stepped in some gum…I’m getting back together with Zoey!” – Ted

“Worst couple ever.” – Barney’s driver re: Ted and Zoey

So what did everyone else think? Did you love it? Are you excited for Lily and Marshall? Did you think it was going to be Barney’s wedding? Who is Barney going to marry? And when will this wedding take place? Let us know in the comments below!

Is that ok to say?

Zoey and Ted are done and I couldn’t be happier. Don’t get me wrong, Jennifer Morrison is a great actress but time had come and gone on this relationship about 3 episodes ago. So I say ‘Halleluiah!’

The break up goes down at the NYC landmark preservation commission meeting where Ted, when asked by the commission panel whether or not the Arcadian is a landmark, says “No.”

To our surprise or mine at least, Zoey then got on stage and played the message she recorded of Ted saying the building IS a landmark and that he hates working for GNB. It was a lame calculated move that made me even more excited to see her go.

Two days prior to the meeting, Ted was of course all in love with Zoey and ready to back up his girlfriend in her quest to save the building. Yet, once learning that not only him but also Barney would lose his job if he were to save the Arcadian and then also having a flashback dream with Barney as the Arcadian’s architect, he realizes that the building has to go.

The episode in and of itself wasn’t great. Okay it wasn’t very good at all actually. Though it was a necessary episode to get rid of this relationship I found myself not caring much for the storyline or the jokes. At least we can take away the fact that their relationship is finally over and that the Arcadian is not a landmark.

Now we can move on, to next week’s season finale where Ted is best man at the wedding, meets the mother, and Barney sees Nora but grows closer to Robin.

Here’s hoping for an upturn where the finale is more on par with episodes like “Legendaddy” than “Landmarks!”

Some additional thoughts:

There were some amusing bits with Marshall’s rhymes and Arthur (the GNB boss) yelling at his dog.

The angry birds gag was pretty awful and unnecessary.

Quips of the night:

“If you end an argument in rhyme, it’s convincing all the time.” – Marshall

“Homegirl is pretty diabolical…” – Marshall re: Lily

“You’re not tugboat! You’ll never be tugboat!” – Arthur

What did everyone else think? Are you as happy as I am that Ted and Zoey are dunzo? What would you like to see happen in next week’s season finale! Let us know in the comments below

Who was it that said this? Homer Simpson, right? Smart man, I tell you, smart man.

Last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother mostly dealt with Lily and Robin’s search for the perfect cocktail to get Barney and Marshall through their fight as Marshall joined sides with Zoey to save The Arcadian against GNB.

Switching sides came after Marshall’s boss decided to give him a bad reference telling the environmental firm he interview with that they “fired him when we saw him clubbing a seal with an even cuter seal.”

The rest of the storyline was dedicated to the couple I forgot existed, Ted and Zoey. Did anyone else forget that she was around? For someone we know is not the mother, it was aggravating to hear her and Ted fight and then make up with “I love you.”

I know I was all for them in the beginning but I think their time is up. When it comes to their relationship; I just want it over. Give me more of Barney and his dad or Barney and Robin or finally give us the mother; Anyone else with me?

So back to the girls…

After being kicked out of MacLarren’s due to the boys antics, they girls decide they need “to get these bitches drunk” and attempt to figure out the perfect cocktail for the job. Different strokes for different folks I guess as everyone in the gang has an interesting reaction to various libations. Here are just a few:

Gin – Marshall likes to fight himself

Martini – Lily wants to make out with Robin

Absinthe – Robin hallucinates

Daiquiris – Marshall thinks he’s beautiful

Peppermint Schnapps – Barney becomes Richard Dawson, the host of Family Feud

Bourbon – Ted is awesome at beat boxing (to himself)

Cross referencing them all to work Marshall and Barney through their fight, they worry after a tequila shot (Future Ted warns the kids to stay away from Tequila) and make up after a beer from the bartender at MacLarrens but are at it again after a glass of champagne.

By episode’s end everything is back where it started except Ted is now on Zoey’s side too. We’ll have to wait and see how that works out. I’m thinking and secretly hoping it will be the big blowout that breaks them up as we head towards the wedding where Ted will FINALLY meet the mother.

Will we meet her? Well no but for more information on that, read EW's article here.

Some additional thoughts:

The cockamouse came back!

Why did Marshall get the bad recommendation? For story’s sake?

Quips of the nights:

“I’m sorry your crabs have super herpes.” – Marshall

“I hope this drink isn’t teething because it’s about to get nursed.” – Robin re: the girls who want their booth

"Can you get STDs from the ghost of a prostitute?" - Ted

So what did everyone else think? Where would you rank 'The Perfect Cocktail' in this season of HIMYM? Are you sick of Ted and Zoey too? Let us know in the comments below
