How I Met Your Mother has had singing episodes, rhyming episodes and all other manner of craziness across nine seasons, so really, this doesn’t seem all that weird. To celebrate the 200th episode of the show, How I Met Your Mother will spend the entire episode telling the story from the perspective of the mother, instead of Ted.
We’ve barely seen any of Cristin Milioti so far this season, but as the show heads into its final episodes, that should change, starting with this new starring role.
“Our 100th episode was very much a celebration of the cast – not the cast doesn’t deserve celebrating even more after 200 episodes – but this is a different kind of story,” says EP Carter Bays. “It’s about the tale. It felt like a different kind of 200th episode, but it felt like the right one to do in terms of the greater story of the show. If she doesn’t get nominated for a guest Emmy for this episode, I don’t know what one has to do to get that,” raves Thomas. “She’s fantastic in it. Anyone who wants more of her will love this episode.”
That’s high praise, and hopefully the performance is as good as their claiming. Are you excited for this episode, or is it just another one of the show’s gimmicks?
