The second episode of Justified's third season, "Cut Ties," is slated to air next Tuesday, January 24. Some promotional photos from the episode have surfaced, featuring Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and newcomer Karen Goodall (Carla Gugino). Goodall is a visiting U.S. marshal who Raylan helps with a case. Of course, the twist here is that Raylan and Karen have a past that is explored only a bit in this episode.

As with last week's set of photos, most of these come from only one scene in the episode: when Karen meets Raylan in the marshal's office early on in the episode. Not a lot is given away, but we're given our first good look at Gugino's character.

Interestingly, Gugino's introduction is not the focal point in the episode. Much like last season's "Blaze of Glory," the episode is an Art-centric affair. We get to see a side of Art we've never seen before. It's Nick Searcy's best turn on the series so far, and it's what makes the episode so entertaining.
