Part 1 of the two part Kourtney and Kim Take New York season finale was full of revelations for the family, both good and bad. Coming to the realization that she may have married for the wrong reasons, Kim enlists a medium to contact her father for help. Kris’s sister visits and Kim purposely avoids her.
It’s the anniversary of Robert Kardashian Sr.’s death and he is very much on his daughters' minds. Kim hears about a powerful medium named John Edward and is interested in meeting with him. Kris and Kourtney are against the idea. Kris tells Kim his sister Kaela is coming to town the next day. Kim is taken aback by the sudden visit and would have appreciated more notice from Kris.
Kourtney and Scott stroll through Central Park and get a caricature portrait done by a street artist. Scott wants a picture of them for their home, but Kourtney thinks pictures around the house are cheesy, and admits she doesn’t enjoy her mom’s famous photo wall in the Jenner mansion. The caricature spurs Scott to take Kourtney for a formal portrait sitting, respecting the fact that she doesn’t like photos. Kourtney can’t resist bursting his bubble, so she secretly tells the artist to have a little fun with it.
Kaela arrives and Kris is happy to finally have one of HIS family members around. Kris and Kaela take in the sights of New York. Kim is too busy to join them on any of their outings, and actually Kim wants to keep her distance from Kaela so she doesn’t sense the tension between her and Kris. Kaela wonders if Kim is mad at her since she hasn’t had time to hang out with her all week. Kris confides he is a bit stressed from their recent ups and downs. Kalea tells Scott she feels weird that Kim won’t spend any time with her. Scott says she is very busy this week and quite frankly, Kim didn’t know Kaela was coming until the last minute. Kaela looks perplexed by this and leaves New York, texting Kim that she was sorry she came at a bad time. This of course gets Kris and Kim into a debate. Kris thinks it’s wrong that Kim made no effort to make the time for Kaela, like she does when her family visits. Kim shoots back that she always has notice when her Mom or Khloe are coming.
The finished portrait is delivered to the penthouse. Scott wants everyone gathered for the unveiling. He is shocked when he sees he was given a unibrow, which of course causes the others to burst out laughing. Kourtney admits she is responsible for that, and Scott is furious. He questions why she can’t respect something he wants for once. And he’s right. He storms out. Kourtney says she will ship it to his parent’s house. Kris tells her she is failing to see how important this was to him and she needs to apologize. Shockingly, she agrees. As a consolation, Kourtney has Kim photograph them so Scott can have the pictures he really wants.
Kim gets a call back from John Edward who has limited availability to see her. For him, Kim will move her schedule around. Kourtney and Kris don’t support this. Kris refuses to discuss it with her, and Kourtney feels that since their Dad used to warn them against pyschics, then it’s not appropriate to use one. Scott tells Kourtney he needs to support her even if she doesn’t agree with it. Kourtney relents and joins her for the appointment.
John connects with Robert right away and reveals memories to the girls which freak them out by their accuracy. The girls get very emotional when John relays messages from Robert, such as their Mom doesn’t deserve the blame for the divorce, and they should tell her he feels she did an amazing job, something he didn’t tell her when they were together. Then John probes deeper, asking if someone in the family is pregnant right now. He zeroes in on Kourtney (and as we know, after this episode was filmed she announced her pregnancy). He sees twins, so either the sign Gemini comes into play or she is having twins. Kourtney says Scott is a Gemini. He says there’s a second pregnancy tied to a platinum blonde. The girls tell him Khloe had platinum blonde hair at the time Robert passed, and how she has been trying to get pregnant. John says it will happen. He acknowledges Kim’s first marriage and divorce and says her father just wants to know if she learned from it. He tells them their Dad is okay and he will continue to be a connection in their lives.
After he leaves, Kim is crying and tells Kourtney she can’t do it anymore with Kris and doesn’t want to be married to him. We know the end is near, and it will all come to a head on part 2 of the Kourtney and Kim Take New York season finale, Sunday, January 29, at 10 p.m. on E!
