I know, everyone. Law & Order: SVU isn't going to be the same without Chris Meloni's Stabler.  After watching every single episode of this show multiple times in reruns over the years, it pains me to say that he won't be returning.  But I'm still willing to give the show a chance when it returns for its thirteenth season tonight on NBC.

When SVU returns tonight, Stabler's departure will be addressed.  After shooting someone in the squad room in the season 12 finale, Stabler will be on leave while being investigated by Internal Affairs.  The entire team - particularly Benson - will be adjusting to the loss in the first episodes of the new season.  The squad room will also have been redesigned after the shooting and the unit is being watched very closely by the brass.  Two new detectives will also be introduced: Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish), and Nick Amaro (Danny Pino).  Benson will essentially act as a mentor to the new detectives because of her seniority.  While B.D. Wong has also left the show, Fin, Munch and Cragen will all be returning.  In addition, Stephanie March and Diane Neal will be returning as ADAs Cabot and Noval.
