Leverage Renewed for Season 5

LeverageTNT has given a green light to a fifth season of its caper show Leverage. The fifth season is slated to air in the summer of 2012 and will have 15 episodes.

The show currently airs on Sunday nights and the summer mid-season finale will air on August 28. Leverage will then resume in November and December to wrap up the fourth season.

Leverage continues to grow in the ratings. After being paired with TNT’s newest hit Falling Skies this summer, Leverage’s ratings increased to 4.8 million viewers, up 10% over season three.

‘While many shows decline in their second, third or fourth seasons, Leverage has defied the odds and continued to climb,’said Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). ‘More and more viewers are discovering this weekly joy ride through wonderfully complex schemes and con games, all brought to life through smart writing, sharp directing and a terrific cast.’

Leverage is about a group of former thieves and hackers who take down the rich and powerful who harm others. It stars Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge.
