Online chats during LOST have been a tradition amongst fans for a long time, and now ABC is getting in on the fun. The network will host a live chat event for fans before and during the episode as "The End" brings LOST to a close this Sunday. So far no word of special guests or any other carrots, looks like it is up to the fandom themselves to make this event memorable. Here are the official details from ABC.
Sunday, May 23rd is the LOST Finale Event we’ve been waiting for! Don’t just watch the finale - chat with other LOST fans on ABC.com! Beginning at 3:30pm PST on Sunday May 23rd, log-in to ABC.com via your MySpace, Twitter, or Facebook account to participate in a live-chat with other LOST fans! Talk about your favorite memories of the show, your thoughts on the finale as it happens, and more!
Also, it appears Europe is going to be watching the final moments of LOST in sync with Americans in the PDT time zone. Sky1 has announced they will simulcast the finale with fans on the west coast. Director of programs Stuart Murphy said "We are proud of the fact that at Sky 1HD we have a long tradition of running all of our US shows as close as possible to their US TX date. With something as hotly anticipated as the LOST finale it makes sense to show it at exactly the same time as millions across America will see it.”
Since LOST will STILL air earlier for fans in the eastern time-zone, LOST fans that don't want to be spoiled of the show's climactic moments will want to lock themselves in a closet somewhere before tuning in.
Is anyone really going to be chatting during the finale?
I can not explain how much I'm going to miss this show – it's honestly tearing me up that it will be over on Sunday. As far as I'm concerned, Damon and Carlton should receive an Emmy this year for the cummulative work they've done on the show. Everything about it will be missed – the written, the clues, the searching, the characters, and most of all, the smart-ness of the show. I don't think there's anything close to it that asks you to ask so many questions or ties in so many cultural and literary references to play along with its viewers. It's truly a huge accomplishment. I'm honestly mesmerized by the amount of work that had to go into this show – the historical and literary connections alone are mind blowing. http://thesmogger.com/2010/05/20/looking-at-los…..
