We've been seeing promos for the return of Lost on ABC for a while now, using clips of old episodes instead of any new material. Well, in Spain they're doing the same thing — but in a much cooler way. Think Dave LaChapelle's season one promos, but even more stylized.
sl-LOST.com, who uploaded and subtitled the video in English, have called it their "favorite promo ever," and I think I agree. It takes iconic scenes from the series, and places them on a chessboard: Ben wakes up on the chessboard wearing a parka; Jack and Locke peer down into a square of the board; Juliet slips from Sawyer's grip and falls down a tunnel in the board. It's all very stylized, and looks absolutely great when the stark black and white are contrasted with the surrounding foliage of the jungle. And that's not to mention the great voice-over, which reads "The wise man said life is a chessboard of nights and days, where men are pawns of God, moved here and there. God allows them to kill, and kills. And piece by piece, he puts them back in the box. Because there's a destiny for every piece, for every player, and for God."
As the voiceover ends, a giant arms extends onto the board and places the statue of Taweret on the board, like a chess piece. Oh, it's so very cool. As the title "Perdidos" (Lost) comes onto the screen, the narrator ominously states that "the game begins and ends," and that "destiny will be fulfilled."
Nothing so far has gotten me as pumped for Lost's return as this one promo has, so I'll share the excitement and post the video below. Thanks again to sl-LOST.com for posting the video.
