Everyone knows him as Sawyer, the wisecracking, acerbic con man with a heart of gold. But now that Sawyer's (and LOST's) storyline has ended, actor Josh Holloway might just be moving on to a bigger job: superhero movies.
If there's one thing that can unite folks at the box office, it's superhero movies. Movies like Iron Man 2 and Kick-Ass have scored respectable audiences in a year of disappointing box offices, and Marvel Comics will continue not to disappoint, with a slew of new films slated for release, all leading up to the 2012 premiere of The Avengers, an all-star film that includes characters like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. Now, Joshua Holloway might have his toe in the door for a little piece of Avengers real estate as well, considering that he's in talks to star in a Marvel movie, Avengers News has reported.
While no source is given, the site says that Holloway is in talks for a lead role in an as-yet unknown film: "Apparently there’s been talk between Marvel and his group to play a “lead” role in an upcoming Marvel film. We mention a “lead” role because these bigger actors often won’t sign “retainers”, meaning everything should be 100% locked (character, film, etc) for Josh once he’s signed the dotted line."
Now, I don't know about you, but I would love to see Holloway in a big role in a film. Sure, LOST got him recognition, but to see him make the jump to A-Lister status would be nothing short of great. Of course, the question remains who he would play. Many speculate that he would play Henry Pym/Ant-Man, which would be a cool character if it weren't for the mediocre name. Would anyone really go to see a movie titled Ant-Man? I wouldn't.
Then there's my favorite still-uncast role, Hawkeye. Hawkeye is simply a really good archer, who seems to match Holloway's physical description. Now, would I go see a movie called Hawkeye? Signs point to yes.
That, of course, begs another question: will I ever be able to see Holloway as any other character but Sawyer? The role was so iconic and endearing that I'll most likely be seeing Sawyer in whatever Marvel movie Holloway is cast, if he is indeed given a role (much like Kent Taylor in Vantage Point-- that was Jack!).

I think Hawkeye should still go to Jeremy Renner, as the overall attitude of the character can be best played my Renner, in my humble opinion. I can see his iconic status as Sawyer interrupting a film though, much like when I watched Spiderman 3, I didn't see Venom, I saw Eric Foreman.

i love josh holloway, but i really have my heart set on hawkeye being played by jensen ackles. he's got the wit and the killer attitude to play hawkeye. if josh is up for another role, great, but not hawkeye!
I agree with Dave here! Jeremy Renner is perfect for Hawkeye, and I really cannot see Josh Halloway as Ant Man….I'm an avid fan of both Lost the Marvel Comic books, so I know what I'm talking about….but I wouldn't mind Josh as say…Moonknight.

This is all well and good, but I'd love to see Mr. Holloway take on a role in a Western.
Holloway would be good as Hawkeye but Hank Pym is a scientist and I could never think of Sawyer as that kind of character. I would love to see Lost actor's besides Mathew Fox do movies, though. One idea I had was to have Francois Chau (who played Pierre Chang on LOST) play the Mandarin in Iron Man 3.

He would be an awesome Thor. Also, with iron man 2 after the credits scene they show you Thor's hammer telling the audience that Thor will be on the big screen soon. I think would be a great rule for him.

Really can't see him as the first Ant-Man, super-science geek Hank Pym. But the current Ant-Man in the comics, Eric O'Grady, is portrayed as kind of an anti-hero, con-artist, always looking out for number one, who's walked both sides of the line between hero and villain. He was going to be a great Gambit, but…Anyway – i like superheroe movies, but i want to see him into more serious typyes of movies, like dramas…Josh Holloway is good with emotions. Hawkeye's not slated to get his own movie, last I've heard. A cameo in another movie, perhaps, but not his own like Ant-Man is getting.Sure the name is a bit mediocre, but the character plays a large role in the Marvel universe, so I'd see it anyway.

Halloway would make a perfect Sabertooth, if they were ever to give that super-villain his own movie….failing that, I suppose I could see him more as the hot-tempered Hawkeye, than the cool intellectual Hank Pym.

I for one would love to see Josh Holloway cast in True Blood! He already has the perfect accent and I'm sure he would make a great addition to the cast! Think about it, do you only want to watch a movie with him as the lead role or would you prefer to get more air time and see him on a more regular basis!? :)
I don't have much knowledge on The Avengers buttt…I do love THE PREACHER graphic novel series which I have been recently introduced to. It is strongly influenced by westerns and it appears that the hero of the series, Jesse Custer, is who Sawyer has been based on. PERFECT role for Josh IMO.
