Matthew Fox Gets a Theater Role

If you've been wondering whether or not you'll see Matthew Fox again after his eye closed for that last scene on LOST, the answer is a resounding maybe. If you live in London. And you go to the theater.

Digital Spy is reporting that the Party of Five actor will be making his theatrical debut in London's West End, appearing in the production In A Forest, Dark and Deep, which is written and directed by Neil LaBute. Fox will play the brother of Olivia Williams's character, who helps his sister clear out her forest cabin. Sounds like one of those nice family dramas, doesn't it? Wrong. Apparently, this play will be a "psychological thriller."

Fox stated his desire to no longer do television after wrapping LOST, and it appears the man is staying true to his word. While most of his LOST friends have returned to the television landscape, he has noticeably remained aloof. And while it's certainly nice to see that Jorge Garcia has joined Alcatraz or that Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson have begun their own series on NBC, it's even nicer to see one of the actors evolve, despite the fame that LOST brought (not to insult any of the other fine actors who returned to television; I'm perfectly content to continue watching their small screen antics for a long time).

Most of us won't be seeing Fox in the role when it previews on March 3 or runs from March 14 to June 4, but that's the nature of theater. I know some people from the states will be buying plane and theater tickets to see the role, but I don't think I'll have to. I'm simply content with knowing that Matthew Fox is out there doing what he does best: fixing things. Oh, sorry. I meant acting, of course.

As a small note, this is TVOvermind's 5,000th published article. That's a lot of television covered, and we want to thank you readers for supporting us. Here's to 5,000 more!
