Weezer is putting out an album titled Hurley later this year, and you know its got to be good just by looking at the cover art. That's right, the photograph you see on this article is the cover of Hurley. If you can't see the picture, it's just a picture of Jorge Garcia, smiling. There aren't any words, there's not even the band's name on there. It's just a picture of Jorge.
While Pitchfork is calling the album cover "ridiculous," I think it's pretty brilliant.
The picture is cropped from one of Garcia with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, who is still working on watching the series. "I only made it through season two, so I was really nervous hanging out with Hurley/Jorge recently, because I didn't want to hear something about how it all resolves, or overhear anyone else talking about it," Cuomo said. "I really like the show though."
"I was coming up with all kinds of stuff [for the album's title], but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn't really have anything to do with anything. I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia -- it just had this amazing vibe. We didn't want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as 'the Hurley record' even if left it without that title, so we just called it 'Hurley.' No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face."
Hurley is slated to come out September 14. I've never been particularly wild about Weezer, but strangely, they've sold me.

I think this is pretty cool. We know Jorge is pretty amazing so it is nice to see him getting all this love.
!!
I don't know what the hell decade you're living in, but CDs aren't $15 any more.

Well wherever you are, tax and or rounding off numbers must be non-existent. Would love to buy property there.
Uhmm, I wouldn't be too sold on it yet, you may not be a Weezer fan, but I am, and their last album was absolutely horrible, and soul-shattering, especially to a person who's been listening to Weezer since pretty much the day he came out of the womb.
As a huge Lost fan as well i'm terrified they're going to butcher this, badly
But I have my fingers crossed, maybe the picture of Jorge Garcia will infuse large amounts of awesome into the album, if only by aesthetic, or at worst, osmosis
