Ellen Degeneres doubters prepare to eat crow. Idol is actually up over last years first week of Hollywood by five-percent, equating to 27.7 million live viewers. You could probably make the argument that it is a curiosity boost and the numbers could still come down, but seriously - get over your Paula-mourning, it appears this Ellen thing is going to work. Can you imagine what it will be like when Howard Stern joins? Yeah, I'm still trying to get that image out of my head too.
LOST dropped 9% from its premiere episode last week, bringing in 11 million viewers to the island insane asylum. Those numbers are about on par with last season's, but at this point ratings are really of no concern to LOST fans anyways - this is the final season no matter how you look at it as the team prepared to bring the story to a close. There is still a large contingent of LOST fans that prefer to watch on DVD, or skip the commercials in DVR mode, so we'll see how those numbers pan out in coming weeks.
