Magic City Season 2 Teaser: Pulling Me Under

Starz Magic CityStarz has released a teaser for the upcoming second season of Magic City, its sunshine-soaked period drama starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan. In the video, Ike Evans (Morgan) is seen floating on top of water, only registering that he’s alive through his eye blinking. Before he could swim away or at least gain a bit of mobility, hands come up from underneath him and drag him to the depths of the ocean, never to be seen again.

In a lot of ways, this is a representation of where Ike was for much of the first season and where he hopes to not have to go during season two. Through all the threats from Ben Diamond and the general pressure that comes with being the kingpin of a growing city like Miami in the 1950s, Ike managed to keep the Miramar afloat and his family (mostly) unscathed; however, after getting thrown in jail in the season finale, he might begin to spiral into darkness and sink to the level that Ben has been at in order to neutralize his enemy and keep his kingdom. But will he lose his soul in the process?

The second season of Magic City will feature several additions to the cast, including rapper Rick Ross as the proprietor of an illegal gambling house, Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks) as a madam who works closely with Ben Diamond, James Caan (The Godfather) as the leader of the Chicago mob, Esai Morales (La Bamba) as a former Cuban rebel, and Jamie Harris (The Prestige) as a drug-addicted mobster with a quick temper (and a likely itchy trigger finger).

Magic City returns this summer on Starz. You can check out a trailer for the upcoming season here.

What do you think of the latest Magic City teaser? Which upcoming addition to the cast are you most looking forward to seeing in action? Can Ike manage to hang on to the power he’s acquired and continue to be one of the leading figures in Miami?
