Modern Family is fresh off several Emmy wins as it goes into its third season. The show won the Best Comedy Emmy, while Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell won Outstanding Actress and Actor in a Comedy, respectively. The series returns for its new season tonight on ABC with a special one-hour premiere.
The first episode, beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET, is called "Dude Ranch". The entire family heads to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to visit Lost Creek Ranch for a vacation outdoors. While at the Ranch, they try cattle herding, horseback riding and skeet shooting. In other words, think City Slickers. ABC promises "some big firsts, a huge surprise and an actual face off between Jay and a foe - a cowboy named Hank!
The second episode, entitled "When Good Kids Go Bad", has Mitch and Cam wanting to tell the family that they'd like to adopt another child. They bring the family together for a nice evening to tell them the news, but they're dismayed to learn that Lily may not react well to having another baby in the house.
