117737_0150_preLadies and Gentlemen welcome to Modern Family! Wednesday's episode welcomed an old but new member of the family for us played by Shelley Long and here is what all went down in a quick easy recap.

The episode begins as Haley and Luke are playing together as Phil and Claire watch as they cannot believe there eyes until they start arguing and Jay and Gloria have a bird hit there windows. Then, Mitchell and Cameron have a surprise guest, Dede, their mom!

Dede is a holistic being, performing Tai-chi on Lily, and giving Cameron a gift of exercise in a flashback for Christmas. Dede is her because she wants to get past "the incident." That was when Dede got a little drunk at her ex Jay's new wedding and said some pretty mean things and got a little physical after getting taken out by force. Everybody has never been the same.

Next, Haley wants to go to a concert with her very older boyfriend, who happens to be in a band and sort of a rebel. Claire says no, Phil is clueless, as Manny returns home to Gloria with a Sharpie mustache. Manny is a little ambivalent to it and Jay tells him he needs to seek revenge. Literally.

Dede wants to meet with the family tonight for a family dinner before she goes of with her French-Canadian boyfriend Chaz to Canada, a far away place. Meanwhile, Phil tries to "Peer-ent" Haley about her concert dilemma, but Haley just does not get Phil's crazy way of saying no. Maybe the "peer-enting" does not work.

As that business happens upstairs, downstairs Claire finds her mother and Mitchell at the door with Mitchell trying to get everybody to love mom again, Mitchell is mom's boy, while Claire, she is dad's girl. While Dede is home, she sheds some light on Claire's past as she tells Haley about all the crazy concert she went to. Maybe Claire was being a little harsh.

Mitchell's next chore is to get Jay to agree to the dinner, as Manny burns his friends bike as the revenge. Jay says no way to the dinner because of Gloria's hatred toward Dede.

Dinner time as Haley's boyfriend shows up to take her to the concert and Jay, Gloria, and Manny come to a nice surprise, Dede. Gloria is so taken back but Dede says that she is so sorry and how she wants to apologize for her attitude. But, unexpectedly Dede lashes out trying to punch Gloria and it is a cat fight.

After the fight is stopped, none of the family members put it in to perspective instead Dylan, the boyfriend says that Dede wants to have her family again. He wrote a song seeing has he is a band and decided to sing it for the crew the lyrics go something like this:

"Baby, baby, I just want to do you, you, maybe you will do me?!"

The episode concludes with us seeing everybody doing various activities like shaving, and packing lunch while seeing "Do you want to do me, me?!"

So what did you think? Is it worth of its high praise, I think so!

Modern Family is now definitively my favorite new comedy this season over Community. The main story was hilarious and Shelly Long had a great performance. And then there was the Dylan song. So inappropriate and yet so appropriate. Full review of the episode.
