‘Batman and Harley Quinn,’ ‘Teen Titans,’ ‘Justice League Dark’ Movies Announced

Harley Quinn

During the San Diego Comic-Con panel for Batman: The Killing Joke (check out my review of the film here!), Warner Bros. Animated announced the next three animated features under the DC Animated Original Movies moniker.

As previously announced, the immediate follow-up to The Killing Joke will be Justice League Dark, an adaptation of the New 52 series of the same name that will unite the more supernatural characters of the DC Universe for a tale of mystery and suspense. While the full cast of characters has yet to be announced, both John Constantine and Swamp Thing have been confirmed to appear. The comic series also features the likes of Zatanna, Madame Xanadu, Etrigan, and more, but we’ll have to wait and see who will take part in this animated adaptation.

Next will come Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. The film will serve as somewhat of a sequel to Justice League vs. Teen Titans (you can see my review of that film here), and will adapt the fan favorite 1984 comic arc of the same name. The Teen Titans roster from the previous film includes Robin (Damien Wayne), Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, and Cyborg, but we’ll have to wait and see what the team looks like when the film rolls around.

Finally, 2017’s lineup of DC Animated Original Movies will conclude with Batman and Harley Quinn, a completely original story from Bruce Timm, the co-founder of the DC Animated Universe and co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series. Not much is known about this film yet, but we should find out more closer to the release.

We’ve still got a while (the home video release of The Killing Joke itself is still a week away), but 2017’s lineup of DC Animated Original Movies looks to be just as strong (if not stronger) than the great year we’ve seen in 2016.

Which of the upcoming titles are you looking forward to seeing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
