Karen Gillan might not be the most popular name in Hollywood right now but something tells me that 2017 is going to be a banner year for the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 actress. Gillan’s actually been in the news quite recently for defending her “skimpy” outfit she wore in Jumanji. According to the Daily Mail
Now the 29-year-old redhead has spoken out about what appears to be the totally inappropriate jungle get up for her character Ruby Roundhouse in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published Friday. ‘There’s a really valid reason why she’s wearing that,’ Karen insisted, adding, ‘my character is really not happy about it. ‘But I have to say, I’d never take on a role that was truly gratuitous for no reason.’
>While audiences are excited to see the Jumanji sequel to the original that starred Robin Williams, they are equally as excited to check out Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Gillan, who plays Nebula, says that her character will be just as grumpy as in the original film but this time we’ll actually find out why.
I’m so excited for people to see it! I just feel like it’s all of the best elements of the first one, just amplified. It’s even better — it’s funnier, the music’s even better … the second album is a blinder. It’s great. And in the first one everyone was being established. Now that that’s out of the way, you really get to delve into all of their dilemmas and things like that. I think family would really be the main theme of the thing. And my character Nebula is dealing with a whole lot of stuff there — we see a whole new side to her. A much more human side actually, where we understand how truly awful and difficult her daddy issues are.
And to add to her banner year, she’s also going to be in the movie Avengers: Infinity War which is slated to be released later this year. To say that Gillan is going to have a great year would be an understatement. We’re talking 3 films that could each gross $1 billion and she’s in all of them. And one last thing. She’s actually making her directorial debut on an untitled film which was previously called “Tupperware Party.” That name has since been nixed. Get ready to see the name Karen Gillan a lot more.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is set for a May 5, 2017 release, to be followed by JUMANJI on December 22, 2017 and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR on May 4, 2018.
