After having tried to make a Power Rangers movie for what feels like the 100th time, there are many out there (including me) who think that it’s time to give it a rest. I’ve said many times that a resurrection on television would be an excellent idea. Even do an animated show. However, when it comes to the cinema it’s just super hard to take these guys seriously. One of the main issues with all the major motion pictures that have been released is that the movies are actually trying to make us take this team seriously, something that hasn’t and probably will never work.
In my eyes, you can do one of two things: turn this thing into something more comedic and follow the route of what Marvel does and what Wonder Woman has just done or two: make this film about something entirely different, dark, and disturbing. But so far nothing’s worked and it might be a good idea to simply focus on merchandise and the possible resurrection of a TV show.
In the meantime the guys at Screenjunkies have given Power Rangers the much needed honest trailer treatment and have put what I just said into much better words with visual support. Enjoy the video below:
