When it was initially used, CGI was an amplification in movies. It was nothing more than the addition of something that was generally hard to add with real life props or special effects. Computer graphics generated images that could be used to represent anything from scenery to weapons to animals to pieces of nature. However, as the years have gone by CGI has become an integral part of the film industry. Not only is it used in virtually every blockbuster film imaginable, it’s also used in considerably more movies than you think and in ways you probably never even knew.
It turns out that many scenes in movies are without the use of a set or location. Often times CGI is used to create entire backgrounds of scenes and in reality the only thing that’s on camera is a character standing in front of a blank green screen.
