Toy Story 4: It’s Time to Start Making Predictions

Any person should be able to appreciate just how successful the Toy Story franchise is.  But I have to say that as a parent, I can’t even begin to display just how profoundly successful these movies are.  My son is 4 years old and since he’s been 1 I think we’ve been averaging a Toy Story movie per week since that time.  My other son is 10 months old and he’s even beginning to perk up a little bit when he sees Woody and Buzz.  There’s just something about these characters that is magical, almost hypnotizing, that every child in the world goes absolutely bonkers when they are on TV.  This is why not only are my kids excited for Toy Story 4, but I personally can’t help but wonder just how amazing it will be.

While we have to wait a very long time for Toy Story 4 to be released (June of 2019 to be exact), people are already talking about the movie.  There’s very little out there so far with regards to plot but we do know that given that Little Bo Peep wasn’t in Toy Story 3, the plot will revolve around Woody trying to reunite with her.  Buzz of course will be helping him.  Other than that there’s very little known.  Andy is in college so will he make an appearance?  Bonnie is now Woody’s owner so she’s gotta be involved somehow.   We can try and figure this out for the next 2 plus years (and everyone will be trying to do this) but it probably won’t do us much good.

What I would like to do however, is make some predictions about Toy Story 4.  Here are a few of them.

$2 billion gross?

I think so.  I really think that Toy Story 4 is going to gross over $2 billion.  I don’t think it’s a stretch at all considering that just about every blockbuster is coming close to $1 billion these days.  You just have to appreciate that it’s very uncommon for animated films to rake in this much money.   Frozen obviously did it.  But Frozen is one movie.  Toy Story has 3 and new people are watching the franchise every single day.   Think about how much hype is being generated and we’re still over two years away from release.

One more delay

I predict the the film actually gets pushed back to 2020. The film was originally scheduled for theatrical release on June 16, 2017, but on October 8, 2015, the release date was delayed to June 15, 2018, allowing Pixar to give the original release date to Cars 3. On October 26, 2016, the film was delayed to June 21, 2019, while the June 15, 2018 date was taken by The Incredibles 2, which was further along in production.  You don’t think another delay is “in the works?”  It has to be

Another big character

This goes without question but there has to be some kind of big character addition.   Every movie had one and it should be no different this time around.   I personally would like to see Andy be involved and in some way become a villain.  While fans would hate that, I think it would add a nice twist.

Randy Newman Oscar

There’s no official word on Randy Newman scoring the film but come on.  We know he’s doing it and whatever the theme song for the movie is, Newman’s getting an Oscar.  After he finally popper his Oscar cherry, the Academy is going to start loading him up.

So anywhere, those are my initial predictions for Toy Story 4.  Do you have any?  If so, what are they?  Also, for some entertainment here are a couple fan-made trailers for Toy Story 4.
